【摘要】：民國學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨立的堡壘中央研究院,在1940年蔡元培去世后的繼任院長候選人選舉時受到政治的強力侵襲。評議會評議員們以學(xué)術(shù)良知抵擋住蔣介石舉出顧孟余的"下條子"行為,選出他們心目中的候選人翁文灝、朱家驊與胡適,表征了學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨立對政治的勝利。但在院長人選的遴選與任命過程中,因政治因素的侵?jǐn)_等,不僅演成胡適駐美大使撤換風(fēng)波,而且最終人選并非真正學(xué)人翁文灝,而是純粹官僚朱家驊,顯示出學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨立的限度。更為重要的是,面對政治對學(xué)術(shù)發(fā)展更為強勁的干擾,朱家驊領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下的中央研究院,生存也面臨危機,更昭顯了學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨立在政治強力下的窘?jīng)r與窘境。
