《考利歐雷納斯》是莎士比亞的最后一部羅馬悲劇。該劇常常被解讀成一部政治劇,主人公被看作是反民主的反派英雄,從而導(dǎo)致莎翁的英雄觀和價(jià)值判斷受到猛烈批評(píng)。本研究則試圖以人物為中心、以原型批評(píng)的視角細(xì)讀文本,揭示隱藏在主題偽裝下的神話原型,為研究者與讀者提供一個(gè)新穎、合理的解讀視角。實(shí)際上,該悲劇反映了這樣一個(gè)事實(shí):成長中的古羅馬需要英雄的犧牲,而考利歐雷納斯的母親服龍尼亞遵從族群的號(hào)召,把她戰(zhàn)神一般的兒子作為人牲獻(xiàn)祭給羅馬的諸神。因而,英雄獻(xiàn)祭與大無畏的弒嬰構(gòu)成了該劇的主題,顯示出高度震撼的悲劇性。
