【摘要】：在嚴歌苓直接用英語創(chuàng)作的第一部小說《赴宴者》中,通過人物有限聚焦和自由直接引語的使用,讀者與主人公董丹——一個冒充記者的“宴會蟲”——一起認識了一個腐敗的驚人的現(xiàn)代中國社會。故事里似乎無處不在的虛假與欺騙和它令人頹喪的結(jié)局不僅令董丹、很可能也會令讀者陷于失望之中。在嚴歌苓迄今出版的小說中,這部作品在諷刺的力度和廣度上都堪稱空前。將現(xiàn)代中國通過這樣一個故事、以這樣的方式介紹給英語讀者,隱含作者創(chuàng)作的倫理立場值得推敲。
[Abstract]:In Yan Geling's first novel, the Dinner, which was written directly in English, the use of limited focus and free direct quotation was used.Together with the protagonist Dong Dan, a bogus journalist, the banquets know a corrupt modern Chinese society.The seemingly ubiquitous falsehood and deceit in the story and its decadent ending not only disappoint Dong Dan, but also most likely disappoint the reader.In the novel Yan Geling has published so far, the satire is unprecedented in intensity and breadth.By introducing modern China to English readers in such a way, the ethical standpoint implied by the author is worth pondering.
