空語類是著名語言學(xué)家喬姆斯基于20世紀(jì)七十年代末八十年代初提出的一個重要概念,它在管轄與約束理論中占有重要的地位。所謂空語類,是指具有語義和句法功能,但卻沒有語音形式的成分。喬姆斯基認(rèn)為空主語實(shí)行二分原則,有兩個變體,即PRO和pro。在英語中,它們分別分布在限定句和非限定句的主語位置上。PRO分布在非限定句中的主語位置,pro分布在限定句的主語位置�？照Z類的研究有助于更深入了解語言的結(jié)構(gòu)。限于篇幅,本文只討論空主語PRO。 PRO自提出以來引起了國內(nèi)外許多學(xué)者的關(guān)注。他們開始是在管轄與約束理論框架下對PRO進(jìn)行研究。后來學(xué)者們以及喬姆斯基本人認(rèn)識到管轄與約束理論存在一定的局限性,喬姆斯基隨后又提出了最簡方案。其中經(jīng)濟(jì)原則起著重要的作用,它要求所有的句法推導(dǎo)和表征都沒有多余的成分。最簡方案的問世在一定程度上就是出于語言經(jīng)濟(jì)的需要。迄今為止不少研究證明了最簡方案的提出對語言現(xiàn)象的解釋更加具有充分性。 本文在喬姆斯基的最簡方案理論框架下,探討英漢空主語PRO存在的依據(jù)、分布、所指以及句法關(guān)系產(chǎn)生的動因。一方面,本文運(yùn)用相關(guān)的語義、句法和理論依據(jù)證明了英語中空主語PRO的存在。PRO分布在非...
