中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)中醫(yī)是中華文化的組成部分之一。在幾千年的發(fā)展中,它形成了一套獨(dú)特的、綜合的診療體系,并逐漸為大多數(shù)中國(guó)人所接受。中醫(yī)是中華文化對(duì)世界醫(yī)學(xué)最顯著的貢獻(xiàn)之一,它融中國(guó)古代哲學(xué)和自然科學(xué)于一體。然而,中醫(yī)翻譯亟待改善的地方良多。什么是翻譯?通常,雖然不能總說成如此,翻譯就是把一個(gè)文本的意義按原作者所意想的方式譯入另一種文字。對(duì)于中醫(yī)翻譯而言,其翻譯的過程是語言的理解、轉(zhuǎn)化、修改與完善的過程。更重要的是,中醫(yī)翻譯過程是譯者在對(duì)中華文化有一定基礎(chǔ)的把握上的積累演變的過程,因?yàn)?中醫(yī)是傳統(tǒng)文化的一部分,它扎根于傳統(tǒng)哲學(xué)和中國(guó)文學(xué)之中,是中國(guó)人民長(zhǎng)期以來治療疾病的經(jīng)驗(yàn)的總結(jié)。以往關(guān)于中醫(yī)翻譯的研究,大都是在某些詞上,翻來覆去地將之解說了一遍又一遍。這種翻譯方法著眼于小處,從而忽略了那些詞在英文文化中的真正含義,繼而引起了讀者的誤解。而對(duì)于中醫(yī)長(zhǎng)句的翻譯,譬如在《黃帝內(nèi)經(jīng)》中出現(xiàn)的一些長(zhǎng)句,由于搞不清它的涵義以及找不到相應(yīng)的英語對(duì)應(yīng)詞,很難將之完美地譯出。嚴(yán)復(fù)先生在他的著作《天演論》中感嘆譯事有三難,曰信,曰達(dá),曰雅。所謂信者,務(wù)在一如所譯之本面,不失其真;所謂達(dá)者,有言必暢,而無或不盡。至于...
