國際語言學期刊論文摘要中的元話語研究

【摘要】:元話語是作者用以表達觀點、態(tài)度及與讀者互動的重要手段。自1959年Harris提出這一術語后,元話語引起了許多學者對其多方面的研究。然而,目前對英語語言學學術論文摘要中的元話語研究尚不足,因此,探究學術論文摘要中的元話語顯得尤為重要。本研究采用Hyland的元話語模式為理論框架。根據(jù)Hyland(2005),元話語被分為兩類,即交際元話語和互動元話語。互動元話語有五個子類別:連接過渡語、框架標記語、內(nèi)指標記語、證源標記語和語碼注釋語。交際元話語亦包括五個子類別:模糊限制語、增強語、態(tài)度標記語、自稱語和介入標記語。本研究的目的在于研究元話語在國際語言學英語學術論文摘要中的使用情況,各種元話語資源的實現(xiàn)形式,以及產(chǎn)生元話語使用差異的原因。本研究的語料為120篇語言學學術論文摘要共計20,371字,其來源于2015年至2016年出版的4種國際權威語言學期刊。本研究借助Ant Conc 3.2.4 w(Windows)2011軟件,運用定性和定量相結合的方法來研究語料中元話語資源的實現(xiàn)形式。研究結果顯示元話語被廣泛應用于學術論文摘要中,在該語料中共計有1525個元話語(即每千字中有74.84個元話語出現(xiàn))。研究表明,在該語料中交際元話語(800詞)使用頻率稍高于互動元話語(725詞)。其中,本語料中的過渡語、增強語、模糊語和語言注釋語的使用頻率較高。本文主要研究了各元話語資源的語言實現(xiàn)形式,如英語的表達方式在一定程度上影響了連接過渡語和轉折過渡語的使用、框架標記語被用于表達作者的邏輯思路。最后,本文嘗試從各元話語資源的功能特點、研究者寫作意圖以及期刊論文摘要的學術規(guī)范等方面探究元話語使用的特點。本文對元話語資源在學術期刊論文摘要中的研究提供了新的思路與視角,同時本文對有志于在國際期刊上發(fā)表論文的二語寫作者提供了教育啟示。
[Abstract]:Meta-discourse is an important means for the author to express his views, attitudes and interactions with readers. Since Harris put forward the term in 1959, meta-discourse has attracted many scholars to study it. However, the research on meta-discourse in abstracts of English linguistics is still insufficient, so it is very important to explore meta-discourse in abstracts of English linguistics. This study uses Hyland's meta-discourse model as the theoretical framework. According to Hylandan 2005, meta-discourse is divided into two categories: communicative meta-discourse and interactive meta-discourse. There are five subcategories of interactive meta-discourse: connective transition, frame marker, internal marker, provenance marker and code annotation. Communicative meta-discourse also includes five subcategories: hedges, intensifiers, attitude markers, self-proclaimed and interventional markers. The purpose of this study is to study the use of meta-discourse in abstracts of English academic papers in international linguistics, the forms of realization of various meta-discourse resources, and the reasons for the differences in the use of meta-discourse. The corpus of this study is a total of 20371 words of abstracts of 120 academic papers on linguistics from four international authoritative linguistics journals published from 2015 to 2016. With the help of Ant Conc 3.2.4 w(Windows)2011, this study uses qualitative and quantitative methods to study the realization of meta discourse resources in the corpus. The results show that meta discourse is widely used in abstracts of academic papers. In this corpus, there are 1525 meta discourses (i.e. 74.84 meta discourses per thousand words). The results show that the communicative meta-discourse (800 words) is used more frequently than the interactive meta-discourse (725 words) in this corpus. Among them, interlanguage, reinforcement, vagueness and language annotation are frequently used in this corpus. This paper focuses on the linguistic realization of various meta-discourse resources, such as the way in which English expressions affect the use of interlanguage and transitive interlanguage to a certain extent, and frame markers are used to express the author's logical ideas. Finally, this paper attempts to explore the characteristics of meta-discourse in terms of the functional characteristics of meta discourse resources, the writing intention of researchers and the academic norms of abstracts of journal papers. This paper provides a new way of thinking and perspective on the research of meta discourse resources in abstracts of academic journals. At the same time, it provides educational enlightenment to the second language writers who are interested in publishing papers in international journals.
