【摘要】：正2012年,Routledge出版了加拿大翻譯理論家雪莉·西蒙(Sherry Simon)新作《翻譯中的城市——語言與記憶的交匯》(Cities in Translation:Intersections of Language and Memory)。在卷首,西蒙引用阿根廷作家博爾赫斯(J.L.Borges)在《紐約客》上發(fā)表的詩歌"The Web",從日內(nèi)瓦到布宜諾斯艾利斯,從奈良到奧斯汀,沿著他的人生軌跡,引入城市與翻譯這一主題。人一生中會到過多少城市?聽到多少語言?跨越語言和文化邊界的翻譯給城市和人帶來了怎樣的變化?詩人能暗中視物,眼疾成就了博爾赫斯創(chuàng)造性的語言。在翻譯之城蒙特利爾生活,讓西蒙洞穿城市中的翻譯,成就了這部力作。
[Abstract]:Just in 2012, Routledge published a new work by Canadian translation theorist Shirley Simon (Sherry Simon), "cities in Translation-the intersection of language and memory." (Cities in Translation:Intersections of Language and Memory). At the beginning of the volume, Simon quotes the poem "The Web" published by Argentine writer J.L.Borges in the New Yorker, from Geneva to Buenos Aires, from Nara to Austin, along the path of his life. The theme of city and translation is introduced. How many cities have you been to in your life? How many languages do you hear? How does translation across language and cultural boundaries bring about changes to cities and people? The poet could see things in secret and his eyes made Borges' creative language. Living in Montreal, the city of translation, allows Simon to translate through the city.
