敘事語篇連貫的象似性視角解讀

【摘要】:語篇的連貫性問題是語篇研究的一個(gè)核心內(nèi)容,它在很大程度上決定了語篇的可接受性。雖然,不同學(xué)派的語言學(xué)家都通過不同的分析方法對(duì)語篇連貫進(jìn)行了深入研究,主要有:語域加銜接理論、宏觀結(jié)構(gòu)理論、言外行為理論、修辭結(jié)構(gòu)理論、心理框架理論、主位推進(jìn)理論等,但是,尚有一些重要問題存在爭議,未能完全解決。而且,至今關(guān)于語篇連貫的定義,篇章語言學(xué)界也沒有一個(gè)確切、統(tǒng)一的說法,有一個(gè)基本表述:銜接是能夠連句成章的一種詞匯和語法方面的手段,而連貫則是采用這些手段所能夠產(chǎn)生的結(jié)果。隨著認(rèn)知語言學(xué)的出現(xiàn),學(xué)者開始從認(rèn)知的角度去探討語篇連貫問題,,并取得了很大的成就。同時(shí),人類通過自身對(duì)世界進(jìn)行體驗(yàn)及認(rèn)知這一理念得到充分重視和肯定。本文就是在認(rèn)知語言學(xué)的指導(dǎo)下,基于前人對(duì)語篇連貫的研究,運(yùn)用象似性理論對(duì)敘述語篇的連貫性問題進(jìn)行嘗試性研究。以英漢兩種語料為基礎(chǔ),從解讀者的角度出發(fā),來探討象似性在促進(jìn)語篇連貫上發(fā)揮的重要作用。 NannyFischer將象似性主要分為兩大類:映像象似和擬象象似。本文在研究這一分類的基礎(chǔ)上,對(duì)其進(jìn)行嘗試性探討與改進(jìn),指出象似性在語篇分析中,必須要進(jìn)行層次劃分,因?yàn)檎Z篇是一個(gè)具有層次結(jié)構(gòu)的整體,語篇的連貫也就有層次之分,主要體現(xiàn)在宏觀結(jié)構(gòu)和微觀結(jié)構(gòu)兩個(gè)層面上。 本文將隨機(jī)選取中英文小說里的敘事語段為素材進(jìn)行研究,以象似性理論為主要理論框架,通過不同的象似性原則對(duì)敘事語篇的局部、整體連貫進(jìn)行詳細(xì)的分析,主要包括:順序象似性、數(shù)量象似性、話題象似性、過程象似性和詩學(xué)象似性。其中,順序象似性和數(shù)量象似性主要是沿用前人的研究成果,將其運(yùn)用到敘事語篇的連貫分析中,發(fā)現(xiàn)其在實(shí)現(xiàn)敘事語篇的局部連貫上起著重要作用;話題象似性和過程象似性則是作者在總結(jié)前人研究成果的基礎(chǔ)上,并結(jié)合敘事語篇的結(jié)構(gòu)特點(diǎn),將其進(jìn)一步深化來研究敘事語篇宏觀層面上的連貫;詩學(xué)象似性則是繼承Freeman研究詩歌語篇的觀點(diǎn),來研究敘事語篇連貫,并發(fā)現(xiàn)其在敘事語篇宏觀、微觀連貫上都發(fā)揮重要作用。 經(jīng)分析證明,象似性理論,作為一種研究能指與所指之間的相似性的理論,在解讀如何實(shí)現(xiàn)英漢敘事語篇連貫上,充分重視了解讀者的心智世界與客觀世界之間存在相似性這一客觀事實(shí),具有很強(qiáng)的解釋力。 本研究所選取的象似性理論分析視角,對(duì)于前人語篇連貫性的研究來說,是一個(gè)有利的補(bǔ)充與發(fā)展。其次,對(duì)將來的語言教學(xué)、文學(xué)作品翻譯以及英漢的對(duì)比研究都具有重要的實(shí)踐參考價(jià)值,同時(shí)也通過真實(shí)語料證明了象似性理論在語言分析中的適用性。
[Abstract]:Coherence is a core issue in discourse research, which to a large extent determines the acceptability of a text. Although, linguists of different schools have conducted in-depth research on discourse coherence through different analytical methods, including register plus cohesion theory, macro-structure theory, extraverbal behavior theory, rhetorical structure theory, and psychological framework theory. However, there are still some important problems which have not been solved completely. Moreover, there is no definite and unified definition of discourse coherence in the field of textual linguistics. There is a basic statement that cohesion is a lexical and grammatical means of linking sentences into chapters. Coherence, on the other hand, is the result of these methods. With the emergence of cognitive linguistics, scholars begin to explore discourse coherence from a cognitive perspective, and have made great achievements. At the same time, human beings through their own experience and cognition of the world this concept has been fully valued and affirmed. Under the guidance of cognitive linguistics and based on previous researches on discourse coherence, this paper attempts to study the coherence of narrative discourse by using iconicity theory. Based on the English and Chinese corpus, this paper discusses the important role of iconicity in promoting text coherence from the perspective of understanding the readers. NannyFischer divides iconicity into two main categories: image iconicity and pseudo iconicity. Based on the study of this classification, this paper tries to explore and improve it, and points out that iconicity must be divided into different levels in discourse analysis, because the text is a whole with hierarchical structure. The coherence of discourse is divided into two levels: macro structure and micro structure. In this paper, the narrative segments in Chinese and English novels are randomly selected as the materials, and the iconicity theory is taken as the main theoretical framework, and the local and overall coherence of narrative discourse is analyzed in detail through different iconicity principles. It includes sequence iconicity, quantitative iconicity, topic iconicity, process iconicity and poetics iconicity. Among them, sequential iconicity and quantitative iconicity mainly follow the previous research results and apply them to the coherence analysis of narrative discourse. It is found that they play an important role in the realization of local coherence of narrative discourse. Topic iconicity and process iconicity are further deepened to study the macro coherence of narrative discourse on the basis of summarizing the previous research results and combining with the structural characteristics of narrative discourse. Iconicity of poetics inherits Freeman's viewpoint of poetic discourse to study narrative discourse coherence and finds that it plays an important role in narrative discourse macro and micro coherence. It has been proved by analysis that iconicity theory, as a theory to study the similarity between signifier and signified, is used to interpret how to achieve the coherence of narrative discourse between English and Chinese. To understand the similarity between the reader's mental world and the objective world is of great explanatory power. The perspective of iconicity theory chosen in this study is a favorable supplement and development for previous studies of discourse coherence. Secondly, it has important practical reference value for the future language teaching, literary translation and the contrastive study of English and Chinese. At the same time, it also proves the applicability of iconicity theory in language analysis through the real corpus.
