跨文化背景下的中英稱贊語對比研究

【摘要】:作為現(xiàn)代語用學(xué)的核心內(nèi)容,言語行為理論自20世紀(jì)50年代由John.J.Austin提出后,引起了國內(nèi)外許多哲學(xué)家和語言學(xué)家的極大興趣,他們開始從不同方面致力于對言語行為理論的研究。 有交際的“潤滑劑”之稱的稱贊語在人類的言語交際中,應(yīng)用范圍廣,使用頻率高。作為一種積極的人類言語交際行為,稱贊語是說話者對他人的素質(zhì)或所有物給予直接或間接的贊美。漢語和英語稱贊語在社會生活中發(fā)揮著不可替代的作用,同時也有許多方面的差異。西方的許多學(xué)者從不同方面對稱贊語進(jìn)行研究,相比較國外的研究來說,國內(nèi)對稱贊語的研究起步較晚。隨著中國語言學(xué)的發(fā)展,國內(nèi)關(guān)于稱贊語方面的研究近年來引起人們的廣泛關(guān)注。 隨著信息技術(shù)的快速發(fā)展,來自于不同國家,具有不同文化背景的人們之間交流變得越來越頻繁,正確地使用稱贊語并對其作出恰當(dāng)?shù)幕卮鹪诔晒Φ娜穗H交際中發(fā)揮著極其重要的作用。本文以言語行為理論和禮貌原則為主要理論基礎(chǔ),以跨文化交際為背景,使用對比分析的方法研究中英稱贊語在使用語境、話題分布、稱贊形式、社會功能、修辭等方面的差異,并探求影響中英稱贊語差異的文化因素。研究發(fā)現(xiàn)英漢稱贊語在家庭、學(xué)校和工作場合的使用中顯現(xiàn)出明顯的差異性;在對英漢稱贊語的研究中發(fā)現(xiàn)性別對稱贊語的使用和應(yīng)答方面存在著差異;相比較英語稱贊語而言,漢語稱贊語承載著更多的社會功能;在詞法和句式上,漢語稱贊語體現(xiàn)出更加靈活多變的特點;漢語稱贊語在修辭和習(xí)語上比英語稱贊語更加豐富,更具文學(xué)色彩性;英漢稱贊語都具有模糊性的特點;隨著時代的發(fā)展,人們的審美標(biāo)準(zhǔn)也隨之改變,以中國歷史中對女性審美的變化來說明稱贊語具有歷時性這一特點。凡此種種不同,,皆因兩國具有不同的文化底蘊,具有不同的傳統(tǒng)價值觀念和思維方式,對合作原則和禮貌原則等語用原則的使用不同。 可見,英漢稱贊語反映著文化又同時受文化的制約,只有了解兩國的文化差異才能在交際中更好地運用稱贊語這一積極的言語交際行為,從而取得預(yù)期的交際效果。
[Abstract]:As the core of modern pragmatics, speech act theory has attracted great interest of many philosophers and linguists at home and abroad since it was put forward by John.J.Austin in 1950s. They began to devote themselves to the study of speech act theory from different aspects. The compliments, which are called "lubricant" of communication, are widely used and frequently used in human speech communication. Compliment is a direct or indirect compliment given by the speaker to the quality or possession of others. Chinese and English compliments play an irreplaceable role in social life. At the same time, there are many differences in many aspects. Many scholars in the West have studied compliments from different aspects. Compared with foreign studies, the study of compliments in China started relatively late. With the development of linguistics in China, In recent years, domestic research on compliments has attracted wide attention. With the rapid development of information technology, communication between people from different countries and cultures has become more and more frequent. The correct use of compliments and appropriate answers to them play an extremely important role in successful interpersonal communication. This thesis is based on speech act theory and politeness principle, with cross-cultural communication as the background. Using the method of contrastive analysis, this paper studies the differences in usage context, topic distribution, praise form, social function, rhetoric and so on, and explores the cultural factors that influence the differences between English and Chinese compliments. There are obvious differences in school and workplace use; in the study of English and Chinese compliments, there are differences in the use and response of gender symmetric compliments. Chinese compliments bear more social functions; in terms of lexical and sentence patterns, Chinese compliments are characterized by more flexibility and variety, and Chinese compliments are more abundant in rhetoric and idiom than in English and have more literary color. With the development of the times, people's aesthetic standards also change. The change of female aesthetics in Chinese history shows that compliments have diachronic characteristics. Both countries have different cultural connotations, different traditional values and modes of thinking, and different pragmatic principles such as cooperation principle and politeness principle. It can be seen that English and Chinese compliments reflect that culture is restricted by culture at the same time. Only by understanding the cultural differences between the two countries can we make better use of compliments as a positive verbal communication act and achieve the expected communicative effect.
