【摘要】：《紅樓夢》是中國文學(xué)史上最優(yōu)秀的小說之一,是由曹雪芹先生在十八世紀(jì)中期創(chuàng)作的經(jīng)典巨作。這部作品被稱為是“中國古典文化的百科全書”。這部小說在中國文學(xué)史上和世界文學(xué)史上都享有極高的榮譽和地位。這是一部極其有影響力的小說,有著極高的文化和美學(xué)價值。曹雪芹不僅是一位杰出的作家而且還是一位可以在作品當(dāng)中自如的運用顏色詞的畫家。在《紅樓夢》這部小說當(dāng)中,有許多的顏色詞,例如自然界中的橙色,綠色,黑色,藍色和紫色都被很好的用來描寫景色,表達情感等。這些顏色詞賦予了紅樓夢這部小說特殊的意義。曹雪芹用顏色詞和顏色意象展現(xiàn)在讀者面前一幅五彩斑斕的畫卷,使讀者好像親眼目睹了一個封建社會大家庭由盛而衰的過程。 在英漢兩種語言中,顏色詞都有著相同的和不同的象征意義和聯(lián)想意義。對以特定顏色詞的理解不可避免地會把這個顏色詞所屬的文化背景考慮進來。那么,在翻譯這些顏色詞的時候,譯者要把語言和他們的文化都考慮進來。漢語和英語有著不同的起源,因此他們的語言特征和文化內(nèi)涵顯然也是不同的。由于這些差異,尤其是表達和文化的差異,在翻譯當(dāng)中很難達到完全對等。紅色,在中國有著特殊的地位和內(nèi)涵。紅色,不論是在人名,地名,服飾,物品還是詩歌等中,它的出現(xiàn)頻率都是極其高的,在整部作品當(dāng)中,紅字出現(xiàn)了632次,足以反映了中國源遠流長的紅字歷史文化。作者選擇了原作《紅樓夢》和楊憲益、霍克斯的兩個翻譯版本的前八十回的紅字共232個例子作為研究對象。此篇文章,通過大量的數(shù)據(jù)對比,旨在研究紅字在《紅樓夢》中的作用和在目的論的角度下兩個譯本所采取的翻譯策略。并且,作者通過摘取分析,列舉了兩個翻譯版本對于同一個詞的多樣表達法,對于英語學(xué)習(xí)者對詞匯表達多樣性的學(xué)習(xí)和更好的欣賞這部小說都會有所幫助。
