【摘要】：二十世紀五十年代,第一本英譯張愛玲小說問世卻未能如愿出版。1971年,被譽為張愛玲“終身成就”的《金鎖記》英譯本被收錄進《二十世紀中國小說選》,在美國出版,卻未能獲得英語國家讀者的關注。由此二十世紀張愛玲小說的英譯宣告終結。本世紀初,張愛玲經(jīng)典小說《傾城之戀》、《色戒》等先后被英譯出版,并被以入選標準極為嚴格著稱的企鵝經(jīng)典文庫收錄。張愛玲小說在二十一世紀前的西方世界沒有受到預期的關注,不被西方讀者接受,張愛玲本人也因此在西方文壇默默無名。相隔幾十年,跨越了世紀之交,在二十一世紀初她的小說卻吸引了英語國家人士的眼球,并從一個相當?shù)母叨日J可她的文學成就。本文從接受美學視角切入,從出版狀況、譯者、譯本選擇、媒體及學者關注度等五個方面比較分析了二十世紀和本世紀初的張愛玲小說英譯狀況和接受度,并嘗試從政治環(huán)境變遷、文學文化背景差異、經(jīng)濟市場氛圍等方面分析由此而造成的讀者期待視野、審美經(jīng)驗和接受愿望的變化。作為能同時運用中英文兩種語言寫作的作家,張愛玲的英文小說創(chuàng)作也經(jīng)歷了一個翻譯成中文的過程。中譯本的張愛玲英文小說在國內(nèi)的境遇遠不如其中文小說在二十世紀四十年代上海所受到的追捧。本文從接受美學視角切入,對張愛玲英文小說中譯本問世時期的接受情況進行了比較,著重分析了讀者群體的變化,指出讀者群體變化是造成中譯本張愛玲英文小說未能延續(xù)其中文小說所獲榮耀的最主要原因。本文同時指出在一國作家作品借助翻譯打入他國市場的過程中,科學的讀者接受預期分析是至關重要的。在中國現(xiàn)當代文學英譯轟轟烈烈展開的今天,我們應該借此東風,鼓勵更多的優(yōu)秀作品通過翻譯為更多的西方讀者所了解,進而在世界文學之林中獲得正確的定位。
