【摘要】：魯迅與周作人翻譯的《域外小說集》,在當時甚至現(xiàn)在都可謂一個奇特的翻譯現(xiàn)象,無論是作為文學研究文本,還是作為翻譯研究文本,其意義和價值都不可低估。在中國翻譯史尤其是現(xiàn)代文學史上,《域外小說集》皆占有重要的一席之地,但它在清末民初剛出版時,并沒有引起多少讀者的關注,以至銷路慘淡。 本文以安德烈·勒弗維爾的詩學理論為指導,對《域外小說集》在晚清接受失敗的深層原因進行分析,認為《域外小說集》接受失敗的根本原因在于其與晚清主流小說詩學格格不入。 文學在社會生活中所起的作用是不可小覷的。在晚清時期,章回小說這種文學樣式尤其受到推崇,在這種情況下,《域外小說集》作為一本短篇小說集自然很難被大眾接受。其次,在晚清時期,絕大部分譯者在翻譯時采取歸化的翻譯策略,他們通過添加或是刪減等方式對原文肆意進行處理以迎合讀者,而周氏兄弟在譯《域外小說集》時卻力求精準,即便會流失讀者也要保證翻譯作品的完整與忠實。 《域外小說集》與晚清主流小說詩學的沖突還表現(xiàn)在敘事技巧、審美趣味及選材等方面,這些都將在正文中被一一探討。
