《名利場》是英國十九世紀(jì)批判現(xiàn)實(shí)主義作家威廉·梅克匹斯·薩克雷的代表作及成名作。作為西方經(jīng)典小說之一,《名利場》的中文全譯本在近些年達(dá)到二十本多本。其中,楊必的譯本得到中國文學(xué)翻譯界的一致贊賞與重視,也得到讀者的廣泛肯定和好評。翻譯家及學(xué)者針對該譯本進(jìn)行了多方位研究。本文通過研究中西方有代表性的翻譯理論來歸納適用于文學(xué)翻譯的翻譯標(biāo)準(zhǔn),并在此基礎(chǔ)上比較《名利場》的兩個不同譯本,從而挖掘出楊必譯本受到普遍認(rèn)可和歡迎的要素。嚴(yán)復(fù)的“信、達(dá)、雅”,傅雷的“傳神”論及錢鐘書的“化境”說是中國當(dāng)代翻譯理論的典型代表,他們的觀點(diǎn)對中國翻譯界產(chǎn)生了深遠(yuǎn)影響。亞歷山大·弗雷澤·泰特勒的翻譯三原則,尤金·奈達(dá)的對等翻譯理論和彼得·紐馬克的語義翻譯和交際翻譯理論也在西方翻譯界占據(jù)重要地位。這些翻譯理論中有些自產(chǎn)生之初便與文學(xué)翻譯緊密相聯(lián),有些經(jīng)后人引申或從不同視角應(yīng)用,也適用于文學(xué)翻譯。本文通過分析與歸納,總結(jié)出這些翻譯理論中關(guān)于文學(xué)翻譯標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的共通之處為譯本比較做鋪墊,并進(jìn)一步探索優(yōu)秀譯本所采用的翻譯技巧,以期為優(yōu)秀文學(xué)翻譯產(chǎn)生的原因提供一些啟示。
