【摘要】：《水滸傳》是中國四大名著之一,是中國歷史上第一部以農民起義為題材的長篇小說,具有極高的藝術和思想價值。18世紀以來,《水滸傳》已被陸續(xù)翻譯成多國語言,使各國的文學愛好者有機會欣賞到了中國的長篇巨著,感受到了中國文化的獨特魅力。特別是英譯本的出現,為《水滸傳》在西方國家贏得了更廣大的讀者群。本文以《水滸傳》英譯本中的章回標題翻譯為研究對象,分析了賽珍珠譯本與沙博理譯本中的章回標題,展現了兩位譯者的翻譯技巧和各自譯文的特點。 本文以彼得·紐馬克提出的交際翻譯和語義翻譯為理論依據,從詞匯翻譯、整句翻譯、句子結構平衡的把握、文化意象的傳遞等方面剖析了賽珍珠與沙博理的章回標題翻譯,從而發(fā)現了賽珍珠的翻譯傾向于語義翻譯,她的譯文保留了大量的漢語元素;沙博理的翻譯傾向于交際翻譯,更多地考慮了目的語讀者。正如彼得·紐馬克先生所說的那樣,任何一種翻譯策略都不是萬能的。兩位翻譯家的譯文各具特色,各有優(yōu)缺。由于賽珍珠的譯文保留了較多的傳統(tǒng)文化因子和漢語句式,使得譯文較為生澀。沙博理的譯文更多地考慮了目的語讀者,譯文可謂地道,但丟失了一些中國特色的文化元素。 《水滸傳》的章回標題位于每章的正文之前,具有重要的導航作用。本文從章回標題的翻譯入手,探究了兩位翻譯家的翻譯策略,分析了兩譯文的特點和差異。提出了譯者翻譯中國古典著作時,應盡可能地忠實于原文,使譯文承載盡可能多的中國傳統(tǒng)文化因子。
