【摘要】:《水滸傳》是中國(guó)四大名著之一,是中國(guó)歷史上第一部以農(nóng)民起義為題材的長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō),具有極高的藝術(shù)和思想價(jià)值。18世紀(jì)以來(lái),《水滸傳》已被陸續(xù)翻譯成多國(guó)語(yǔ)言,使各國(guó)的文學(xué)愛(ài)好者有機(jī)會(huì)欣賞到了中國(guó)的長(zhǎng)篇巨著,感受到了中國(guó)文化的獨(dú)特魅力。特別是英譯本的出現(xiàn),為《水滸傳》在西方國(guó)家贏得了更廣大的讀者群。本文以《水滸傳》英譯本中的章回標(biāo)題翻譯為研究對(duì)象,分析了賽珍珠譯本與沙博理譯本中的章回標(biāo)題,展現(xiàn)了兩位譯者的翻譯技巧和各自譯文的特點(diǎn)。 本文以彼得·紐馬克提出的交際翻譯和語(yǔ)義翻譯為理論依據(jù),從詞匯翻譯、整句翻譯、句子結(jié)構(gòu)平衡的把握、文化意象的傳遞等方面剖析了賽珍珠與沙博理的章回標(biāo)題翻譯,從而發(fā)現(xiàn)了賽珍珠的翻譯傾向于語(yǔ)義翻譯,她的譯文保留了大量的漢語(yǔ)元素;沙博理的翻譯傾向于交際翻譯,更多地考慮了目的語(yǔ)讀者。正如彼得·紐馬克先生所說(shuō)的那樣,任何一種翻譯策略都不是萬(wàn)能的。兩位翻譯家的譯文各具特色,各有優(yōu)缺。由于賽珍珠的譯文保留了較多的傳統(tǒng)文化因子和漢語(yǔ)句式,使得譯文較為生澀。沙博理的譯文更多地考慮了目的語(yǔ)讀者,譯文可謂地道,但丟失了一些中國(guó)特色的文化元素。 《水滸傳》的章回標(biāo)題位于每章的正文之前,具有重要的導(dǎo)航作用。本文從章回標(biāo)題的翻譯入手,探究了兩位翻譯家的翻譯策略,分析了兩譯文的特點(diǎn)和差異。提出了譯者翻譯中國(guó)古典著作時(shí),應(yīng)盡可能地忠實(shí)于原文,使譯文承載盡可能多的中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化因子。
