美國女作家弗萊納里·奧康納運用了文學(xué)界所稱之為基督教現(xiàn)實主義的創(chuàng)作手法來深刻剖析當(dāng)代西方人類社會的荒誕及黑暗的一面。但由于其創(chuàng)作手法獨特,在很長一段時間內(nèi)不為其他一些文學(xué)作家及評論家所接受。本論文創(chuàng)作的目的在于揭示奧康納的基督教現(xiàn)實主義主題思想及其理論基礎(chǔ),即基督教原罪理論及耶穌·基督贖罪論。本論文從奧康納創(chuàng)作的小說《智血》入手,剖析了其中的主人公黑茲爾·莫茨和相關(guān)人物的思想特征及莫茨皈依基督教的心路歷程,揭示作家從基督教教義出發(fā),對現(xiàn)代西方社會黑暗現(xiàn)實的嚴(yán)肅思考。不可否認(rèn)的是,奧康納基于基督教義對人性和社會現(xiàn)實的認(rèn)識有其局限性。從辯證的角度看,她的世界觀雖然有助于我們了解西方基督教徒社會中,人們的精神世界在現(xiàn)代受到的沖擊,但她以原罪論和基督贖罪論為出發(fā)點的考察是缺乏科學(xué)性的。
