與美國(guó)文學(xué)史上的一些文學(xué)巨匠們寫的經(jīng)典著作相比較而言，查爾斯·弗雷澤的《冷山》（1997）僅僅只能算是誕生于消費(fèi)時(shí)代與速食文化之中的一本新書而已。然而，不管是被欣賞亦或是被貶低，就是這樣一本新書卻顯而易見(jiàn)的確贏得了成功。在它出版后不久，即有許多評(píng)論家對(duì)之做出了大量評(píng)論。出版同年即獲得了美國(guó)國(guó)家圖書獎(jiǎng)的事實(shí)更進(jìn)一步地證明了小說(shuō)本身具有一定的內(nèi)在價(jià)值。盡管這本小說(shuō)至今還不確定是否在美國(guó)文學(xué)的舞臺(tái)上可否占有一個(gè)穩(wěn)固且卓越的地位，但是它已經(jīng)引起了筆者的注意，令其投入了大量的時(shí)間與精力去進(jìn)行閱讀和研究，并希望可以與其他讀者分享其研究所得。 首先，《冷山》一書的快速成功和在評(píng)論界受到的普遍歡迎是有很多潛在原因的，比如，小說(shuō)巧妙的文字運(yùn)用，小說(shuō)所描述的獨(dú)特的浪漫愛(ài)情故事。筆者在本文中將要重點(diǎn)探討的是文學(xué)作品的一個(gè)基本元素—主題。在筆者看來(lái)，這本小說(shuō)包涵著多層含義，一些是讀者很容易就可以感受得到的，而有一些卻不是那么明確。針對(duì)前者，本文將試著比表面認(rèn)知更深入地來(lái)將其呈現(xiàn)；針對(duì)后者，本文將從學(xué)術(shù)角度對(duì)之進(jìn)行分析挖掘。由于論文篇幅有限，筆者把筆墨集中在了小說(shuō)主題的一個(gè)方面，也即，主題中對(duì)人類的關(guān)注，...
