威廉·?思{是當(dāng)今社會(huì)最為廣泛研究的美國(guó)作家之一。在他的所有作品中,他的第九部小說——《押沙龍,押沙龍!》,是除《喧囂與騷動(dòng)》之外,為人們?cè)u(píng)論最多的一部作品。無(wú)數(shù)的評(píng)論文章及著作都在研究這一復(fù)雜難懂卻又威力巨大的小說。這部小說講述了昆丁·康普生在二十世紀(jì)初期嘗試著去探知并理解生活在十九世紀(jì)的小說主人公托馬斯·薩德本及其已毀滅家族的故事。 一方面,論文中作者將威廉·?思{在《押沙龍,押沙龍!》中運(yùn)用的多角度敘述法和立體主義、未來(lái)主義畫家們?cè)谄渥髌分兴\(yùn)用之多角度手法相比較,提出了藝術(shù)具有其通性,并指出了在作品結(jié)構(gòu)方面及美學(xué)效果方面,兩者的相似之處。另一方面,通過分析《押沙龍,押沙龍!》中運(yùn)用的多角度敘述法,作者闡述了威廉·?思{的寫作動(dòng)機(jī)——通過讓四個(gè)不同敘述者從四個(gè)不同的角度看待并講述薩德本的故事,將故事更真實(shí)的一面展現(xiàn)給讀者,給讀者留下足夠的空間,以形成自己的觀點(diǎn),更加客觀地看待這一故事。
