翻譯實質(zhì)上是一種文化活動。后殖民翻譯研究視野中的翻譯不再是純美學(xué)的或純語言學(xué)的行為。在當(dāng)前各民族正努力致力于保存各自文化特色的大背景下，第三世界的翻譯活動尤其要承擔(dān)起與文化霸權(quán)抗衡、爭取文化平等地位的歷史使命。 當(dāng)前翻譯理論得到了長足發(fā)展，后殖民翻譯理論吸收文化研究的成果，提出在翻譯中的文化政治批評和意識形態(tài)批評。它緊跟時代發(fā)展要求，提出了一系列主張并有力的指導(dǎo)了翻譯理論研究。然而這一理論在翻譯實踐中的應(yīng)用至今為止沒有系統(tǒng)的研究。 本論文從后殖民理論關(guān)注的文本中的權(quán)力關(guān)系出發(fā)，著重點是文化意象和文化意識形態(tài)在譯本中的傳遞。通過對莎翁劇本《暴風(fēng)雨》的兩個中譯本的比較研究，具體分析了后殖民翻譯理論在翻譯實踐中的作用，得出了兩個結(jié)論：1)當(dāng)前后殖民翻譯研究提倡的異化翻譯策略并不是唯一正確的策略，因為歸化式的翻譯方法更適于譯介西方作品以豐富弱勢民族的文化，這是考察翻譯及殖民歷史后得出的結(jié)論。2)后殖民理論為解讀翻譯文本提供了一個新視角，能使譯者在翻譯中更準(zhǔn)確地選擇表達(dá)方式。
