《波特諾伊的控訴》和《鬼作家》中的幽默

第二代美籍猶太作家菲利普·羅斯的兩部作品《波特諾伊的怨訴》與《鬼作家》里富含幽默。通過這些幽默,我們可以了解美籍猶太人生活中重要的方方面面。本論文從三個角度來探索羅斯作品中的幽默,即語言中的幽默,角色表現(xiàn)的幽默以及情景中的幽默。 研究語言中的幽默是從事幽默研究中最基本的一個角度。本論文首先通過不協(xié)調(diào)幽默理論來分析這兩部作品中的語言幽默。該部分所引用的例子分別體現(xiàn)出猶太人在美國生活的各個層面,比如說猶太母親們對兒子們懷抱過高的期望,猶太人生活中的反猶太主義現(xiàn)象以及猶太名流們的生活。 角色表現(xiàn)的幽默集中體現(xiàn)在“糊涂蛋”這樣一個喜劇類型上�！昂康啊边@個角色總是生活在自己的理想世界中,他/她不懂得要根據(jù)現(xiàn)實情況而做出相應的改變。這兩本小說中有三個人物屬于這類角色,他/她們分別是:羅諾夫,安尼·弗蘭克和亞力山大·波特諾伊。本文依據(jù)他/她們的理想和現(xiàn)實之間的差異,從自我夸大幽默和自我貶低幽默兩個角度進行了分析。 情景中的幽默圍繞著亞力山大·波特諾伊和內(nèi)森·朱克曼而展開。他們在小說中被描述成猶太笑話中“被窒息的兒子”。作為猶太人的生活的縮影,他們的境況大致體現(xiàn)了猶太社會的呆板機制。 與猶太幽默相比,菲利普·羅斯作品中的幽默既帶有猶太幽默的特點又包含美國化的特色。通過分析這兩部小說中的幽默,我們將對猶太人在美國的生活狀況以及他們的精神世界有一定層面的了解。
