【摘要】：美國華裔作家任碧蓮是一名出生在紐約的第二代華裔美國人,她曾先后在哈佛大學(xué)和斯坦福大學(xué)商學(xué)院學(xué)習(xí)�！兜湫偷拿绹小肥撬牡谝徊块L篇小說。小說以“這是一個美國故事”為開端,成功地把讀者引入到一個華裔美國移民的家庭,并同他們一起感受到了作為一個外來的“他者”在這塊白人的土地上尋夢時的酸甜苦辣。作者在小說中成功的運用了雜糅理論,讓華裔移民重新審視對典型美國身份的認識。 通過研究分析其他華裔文學(xué)作品,我們不難發(fā)現(xiàn),文化身份的書寫是長期以來一直出現(xiàn)在各個時期的華裔作家作品中的一個主題。但在這一主題上,不同的華裔作家都有著自己不同的觀點。早期作家黃玉雪主張主動融入美國社會,但趙建秀卻強烈反對此觀點,主張保持自己原有的文化身份。作為現(xiàn)代華裔作家代表之一的湯婷婷則主張從中國神話傳統(tǒng)的角度去書寫文化身份。然而任碧蓮卻在小說《典型的美國佬》中成功實現(xiàn)了人物文化身份雜糅性的書寫。因此本論文將運用霍米·巴巴的雜糅理論來分析任碧蓮在《典型的美國佬》中是如何讓張家人以“他者”身份在美國復(fù)雜的社會中,實現(xiàn)文化身份的重新構(gòu)建,最后形成其獨特的雜糅文化身份的。以此說明了只有多元文化的共存協(xié)同發(fā)展才是多元文化大背景下的必然選擇,而盲目的追隨某種文化只會產(chǎn)生悲劇和災(zāi)難。 論文主體共分為三章,第一章闡述了華裔美國文學(xué)中的身份書寫問題,通過時代背景分析和與其他華裔作家身份書寫進行對比,并結(jié)合霍米·巴巴的身份觀以展示任碧蓮在多元文化背景下文化身份書寫上的獨特見解。第二章通過小說主要人物拉爾夫,海倫以及特雷薩身上體現(xiàn)的中國傳統(tǒng)文化來分析張家人初到美國時的中國身份。以及其作為華裔美國人在美國所遇到的各種身份困境,而這些困境則可以看作是促使他們追尋美國文化身份的主要原因。第三章將主要論證分析任碧蓮是如何逐步實現(xiàn)對張家人雜糅文化身份的書寫的,即在盲目追尋美國文化身份的夢想破滅后,張家人認識到自己對此的錯誤認識,開始重新構(gòu)建屬于自己的混雜文化身份。
[Abstract]:Chinese American writer Ren Bi-lian is a second-generation Chinese-American born in New York. She studied at Harvard University and Stanford University Business School successively. "typical American" is her first novel. Starting with "this is an American Story", the novel successfully introduces the reader to a family of Chinese-American immigrants and shares with them the joys and sorrows of finding dreams in this white land as an alien "other". The author successfully applies the theory of hybridity in the novel, which makes Chinese immigrants reexamine their understanding of the typical American identity. Through the study and analysis of other Chinese literary works, it is not difficult to find that the writing of cultural identity is a theme in the works of Chinese writers in various periods for a long time. However, on this subject, different Chinese writers have their own different views. Huang Yuxue, an early writer, advocated active integration into American society, but Zhao strongly objected to this view and maintained his original cultural identity. As one of the representatives of modern Chinese writers, Kingston advocates writing cultural identity from the perspective of Chinese mythological tradition. However, Ren Bi-lian successfully realized the mixed writing of cultural identity in the novel "the typical Yankee". Therefore, this paper will use Hermie Baba's hybrid theory to analyze how Ren Bi-lian reconstructs her cultural identity in the "other" status of the Zhang family in the complex society of the United States. Finally, it forms its unique mixed cultural identity. This shows that only the coexistence and coordinated development of multiculturalism is the inevitable choice under the background of multiculturalism, and blindly following a certain culture will only lead to tragedy and disaster. The main body of the thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter expounds the identity writing in Chinese American literature, and compares it with other Chinese writers' identity writing through the analysis of the background of the times. Combined with Homi Baba's concept of identity, Ren Bi-lian 's unique views on the writing of cultural identity under the background of multiculturalism are demonstrated. The second chapter analyzes the Chinese identity of the Zhang family when they first arrived in the United States through the traditional Chinese culture embodied in Ralph, Helen and Theresa. These difficulties can be regarded as the main reasons for their pursuit of American cultural identity. The third chapter will mainly demonstrate and analyze how Ren Bilian gradually realized the writing of the mixed cultural identity of the Zhang family, that is, after the blind pursuit of the dream of American cultural identity, the Zhang family realized their wrong understanding of this. Began to rebuild their own mixed cultural identity.
