[Abstract]:The "Breakdown School" literature had a profound impact on American culture in the second half of the 20 ~ (th) century. However, the meaning and translation of the word "Beat" has always been a puzzle in academic circles. This paper expounds the rationality of translating "Beat" into "collapse" from the point of view of the generation and dissemination of literary classics. " The "spontaneous writing" advocated by the Breakdown School broke the boundary between literature and life, and its communication way of public recitation broke the boundary between the author and the reader. The frequent interaction between the writers and the media breaks through the boundary between elite culture and popular culture, and changes the role of the author and the way in which the text affects the society. The "collapse" with multiple boundaries is an attempt to liberate the increasingly specialized literature, and it also embodies the typical characteristics of the whole postmodern culture.
