論康拉德海洋小說中的生態(tài)觀與生命觀

【摘要】:在十九世紀(jì)末、二十世紀(jì)初的西方文壇,英國作家約瑟夫·康拉德算得上是一顆璀璨的明珠,他的作品一般被分為三類:社會政治小說、叢林小說、海洋小說,這些作品以其異域的題材、冷靜的敘事、深刻的內(nèi)涵贏得了讀者的喜愛,康拉德的碩果也被視為是英國文學(xué)史上一座難以超越的豐碑。劍橋大學(xué)學(xué)者、著名評論家弗·雷·里維斯在《偉大的傳統(tǒng)》一書中,曾說康拉德是用英語語言——甚至任何語言進(jìn)行寫作的偉大的作者之一。弗吉尼亞·伍爾夫也曾說他的聲譽(yù)在當(dāng)時(shí)的英國居于最高地位?道伦鳛橐晃槐蝗朔Q為“站在現(xiàn)代主義門檻上”的作家,在文學(xué)上的影響極為深遠(yuǎn)。隨著全球化的到來和發(fā)展,康拉德的影響越來越深遠(yuǎn),人們對康拉德的研究也越來越深入。 文學(xué)理論的發(fā)展帶來許多新穎的理論觀點(diǎn),文學(xué)評論界對康拉德作品探討的角度也隨之?dāng)U展,眾多的研究成果紛紛涌現(xiàn)。本文試圖以生態(tài)批評理論為依托,以康拉德的海洋小說為著眼點(diǎn),發(fā)掘其作品更多的新內(nèi)涵。 本論文除緒論、結(jié)語外共分三章,緒論部分主要梳理了國內(nèi)外的康拉德研究成果。第一章主要介紹生態(tài)批評理論相關(guān)內(nèi)容,,生態(tài)批評產(chǎn)生的時(shí)代背景、原因,闡述學(xué)者對生態(tài)批評的定義以及生態(tài)批評研究的問題和意義所在;在康拉德的海洋小說中,海洋作為作品中也是自然界中最明顯的生態(tài)意象,在小說中扮演的角色、人物對海洋的態(tài)度,顯示出了康拉德關(guān)于海洋生態(tài)的態(tài)度。第二章主要探討康拉德的海洋小說中體現(xiàn)出的生態(tài)觀,無論是風(fēng)暴還是冷靜,康拉德和他的海員們一起面對,從他們的反應(yīng)和態(tài)度中可以看出康拉德的海洋生態(tài)觀。第三章主要探討康拉德的生命觀,一方面表現(xiàn)出海員們對生命的珍惜與援救,一方面揭示出海員之間的感情是歷經(jīng)風(fēng)雨之后的真情,患難見真情,康拉德在航海生涯中結(jié)交的航海船友給了他童年時(shí)代失卻的親情體會。結(jié)語部分呼應(yīng)生態(tài)批評理論所要研究的三個(gè)問題,總結(jié)出康拉德的生態(tài)觀和生命觀之間的關(guān)系。
[Abstract]:At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Joseph Conrad, a British writer, was regarded as a shining pearl. His works were generally divided into three categories: social and political novels, jungle novels, and marine novels. These works have won the readers' love for their exotic themes, calm narration and profound connotation. Conrad's achievements are also regarded as an unsurmountable monument in the history of English literature. In his book Great tradition, Cambridge University scholar and famous critic Frey Reeves said Conrad was one of the great writers who wrote in English-or any language. Virginia Woolf also said his reputation was at its highest in England at the time. Conrad, as a writer called "standing on the threshold of modernism", has a profound influence on literature. With the advent and development of globalization, Conrad's influence is more and more profound. The development of literary theory has brought many new theoretical viewpoints, and the perspective of the literary criticism on Conrad's works has also expanded, and numerous research results have emerged one after another. Based on ecological criticism theory and Conrad's ocean novels, this paper tries to explore more new connotations of his works. In addition to introduction and conclusion, this thesis is divided into three chapters. The introduction mainly combs the research results of Conrad at home and abroad. The first chapter mainly introduces the relevant contents of ecological criticism theory, the background of the emergence of ecological criticism, the reasons, the definition of ecological criticism by scholars and the problems and significance of ecological criticism research. As the most obvious ecological image in the works, the role of the ocean and the attitude of the characters to the ocean show Conrad's attitude on the marine ecology. The second chapter mainly discusses the ecological view embodied in Conrad's ocean novels, whether it is storm or calm, Conrad and his sailors face together, from their reactions and attitudes can be seen from Conrad's view of marine ecology. The third chapter mainly discusses Conrad's view of life. On the one hand, it shows that seafarers cherish and rescue life. On the other hand, it reveals that the feelings among seafarers are the true feelings after the wind and rain. Conrad's seafaring friends during his sailing career gave him a childhood loss of affection. The conclusion part echoes the three problems of ecological criticism theory and summarizes the relationship between Conrad's ecological view and life view.
