【摘要】：尤多拉·韋爾蒂(1909-2001)是20世紀(jì)美國最優(yōu)秀的南方女作家之一。因其在短篇小說創(chuàng)作上的杰出成就,她被公認(rèn)為美國短篇小說大師。1949年出版的短篇小說集《金蘋果》是韋爾蒂本人最為鐘愛的作品,也是表現(xiàn)其成熟創(chuàng)作技巧和高超藝術(shù)手法的代表作�！督鹛O果》通過講述密西西比一個(gè)虛構(gòu)小鎮(zhèn)摩根那在近40年里的歲月變遷,刻畫了小鎮(zhèn)兩代人的追求和幻滅,生動地描寫了處在分崩離析狀態(tài)下的美國南方生活,揭示了美國南方神話在城市化、現(xiàn)代化的沖擊下的解體,也表現(xiàn)出了作家對20世紀(jì)上半期南方社會和南方生活的細(xì)致觀察和獨(dú)特理解。 鑒于韋爾蒂南方女作家的身份,本文將其短篇小說集《金蘋果》置于美國南方文學(xué)的語境中,考察其對美國南方文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)的繼承和創(chuàng)新。美國南方文學(xué)是美國文學(xué)不可或缺的重要組成部分,而南方作家作品的鮮明特色構(gòu)成了南方文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)。這些傳統(tǒng)包括沉重的歷史感、對地域的重視、對種族問題的復(fù)雜態(tài)度、懷舊情結(jié)、哥特和怪誕特色,以及對神話故事和民間傳說的使用等等。 本文將從女性、家庭、神話這些南方文學(xué)最常見的主題和手法方面來解讀《金蘋果》中體現(xiàn)的南方的變遷,發(fā)掘文本中隱含的深層含義。通過文本細(xì)讀,可以發(fā)現(xiàn)《金蘋果》中的南方小鎮(zhèn)是20世紀(jì)上半期整個(gè)南方社會的縮影,南方女性神話和家庭神話已成為過去,舊南方已經(jīng)解體,現(xiàn)代化和城市化在無情地沖擊著舊南方的傳統(tǒng)和價(jià)值觀。然而,韋爾蒂并沒有沉醉于對南方神話的懷念中,相反,通過小說人物對于自由、獨(dú)立、愛和自我價(jià)值的不懈追求,韋爾蒂相信當(dāng)代南方人終會找到屬于自己的金蘋果。
[Abstract]:In 20th century, Yudora Weltig was one of the best southern women writers in the United States for his outstanding work in short stories. She is recognized as the master of American short stories. In 1949, she published a collection of short stories, the Golden Apple, which is Welty's favorite work. It is also a masterpiece of his mature creative skills and superb artistic skills. "the Golden Apple" tells the story of a fictional town in Mississippi, Morgan, that has changed over the last 40 years. It depicts the pursuit and disillusionment of two generations of people in small towns, vividly describes the American Southern life in the state of disintegration, and reveals the disintegration of American Southern mythology under the impact of urbanization and modernization. It also shows the writer's careful observation and unique understanding of the Southern Society and Southern Life in the first half of 20th century. In view of the identity of Welty's southern female writer, this paper puts his short story collection "Golden Apple" in the context of American Southern literature. To investigate its inheritance and innovation to the tradition of American Southern literature, American Southern Literature is an indispensable part of American literature. These traditions include a heavy sense of history, a focus on the region, a complex attitude to racial issues, nostalgia, gothic and grotesque characteristics. And the use of myths and folklore and so on. This paper will interpret the changes of the South embodied in Golden Apple from the aspects of women, family and mythology, which are the most common themes and techniques in Southern literature. It can be found that the southern town in "Golden Apple" is the epitome of the whole southern society in the first half of 20th century. The female myth and family myth of the South have become a thing of the past, and the old South has disintegrated. Modernization and urbanization impinged mercilessly on the traditions and values of the old South. However, Welty did not indulge in nostalgia for Southern mythology, on the contrary, through the novel characters for freedom, independence. In pursuit of love and self-worth, Welty believes that southerners will eventually find their own golden apples.
