熊式一譯《西廂記》的文本旅行研究

王實(shí)甫的《西廂記》是中國(guó)古典文學(xué)的瑰寶,文辭優(yōu)美,情節(jié)動(dòng)人,不僅受到國(guó)內(nèi)讀者的追捧,也吸引了國(guó)外研究者的目光,多種語(yǔ)言譯本紛紛出現(xiàn)。其中,第一版英譯《西廂記》由譯者熊式一在1935年完成并出版。熊式一是一位在歐洲用英文寫作并傳播中國(guó)文化的雙語(yǔ)作家,本應(yīng)與林語(yǔ)堂齊名,但對(duì)他的研究卻很少。許淵沖曾撰文稱其為“讓中國(guó)文化走向世界的四個(gè)人”之一。其作品不僅在文學(xué)造詣上獨(dú)樹一幟,在文化傳播上也極具價(jià)值。早在1935年,熊式一就將《西廂記》全本翻譯為英文呈現(xiàn)給西方讀者,但相較《王寶川》及《天橋》,熊譯《西廂記》在西方各界反響平平。旅行理論是薩義德(Edward Said)提出的一種研究人文社會(huì)科學(xué)領(lǐng)域內(nèi)的思想理論的新方法和新視角,動(dòng)態(tài)描述思想與理論傳播與演進(jìn)的路徑和蹤跡。根據(jù)旅行理論的主要框架,國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)者胡安江在2007年總結(jié)提出了翻譯領(lǐng)域的“旅行理論”——文本旅行,該理論將翻譯類比為文本的旅行,聚焦文本旅行的八個(gè)方面,包括旅行類別、旅行三要素、旅行者、旅行線路、旅行模式、到達(dá)模式、旅行結(jié)果及返程,以運(yùn)動(dòng)中的視角觀察一次翻譯活動(dòng)的始末及對(duì)未來(lái)翻譯活動(dòng)的啟示。本文基于文本旅行的框架,著重描述和追蹤熊式...
