從假象等值角度對(duì)比研究《水滸傳》的兩個(gè)英譯本

【摘要】:《水滸傳》是中國文學(xué)史上的第一部白話章回體英雄傳記小說,有著豐富的歷史文化意義。該小說描述了宋朝時(shí)期的豐富習(xí)俗,反映了各種社會(huì)現(xiàn)象,也展現(xiàn)了當(dāng)時(shí)社會(huì)底層的人民的生活狀況和理想。原著用不同風(fēng)格的語言刻畫了背景不同、性格迥異的一百單八將的形象,白話的采用也使小說的語言明快、練達(dá),富有表現(xiàn)力。然而由于中西差異的文化背景,翻譯時(shí)很難在保持主題意義對(duì)等的前提下,保持文字本身的美感。小說的美學(xué)效果是由內(nèi)容和形式共同體現(xiàn)的,若形式本身蘊(yùn)含的意義缺失就會(huì)導(dǎo)致假象等值。本文運(yùn)用假象等值理論對(duì)比分析《水滸傳》的譯文,突破了很多理論更注重主題意義對(duì)等的局限,引起讀者和譯者對(duì)語言本身的注意;另外,鄧特·楊的譯文于1999-2002年出版,年份較新,前人研究多集中于單文本分析,如本文中將該版本和沙博里版本進(jìn)行對(duì)比分析在前人研究中較為少見。本文運(yùn)用描述、對(duì)比分析的方法以小說中的正例和反例具體研究主題意義和語言結(jié)構(gòu)的雙重對(duì)等,以假象等值為理論基礎(chǔ),首先介紹論文研究背景、意義、創(chuàng)新點(diǎn)和研究方法,簡要介紹《水滸傳》和假象等值理論;其次從詞法的角度,通過舉例分析兩個(gè)譯文在不合邏輯、客觀性和不可信性的翻譯處理;從句法的角度,具體對(duì)比兩譯文在節(jié)奏、突出性和排比的處理;再從對(duì)話和思維表現(xiàn)的角度,通過對(duì)直接引言的不同處理來對(duì)比分析兩個(gè)譯文的表達(dá)效果;最后得出結(jié)論,總結(jié)不足,并提出避免假象等值的翻譯建議。通過舉例對(duì)比分析發(fā)現(xiàn),沙博里的譯文更簡潔清晰,有些例子較好地保持了原文的不合邏輯、感情色彩的客觀性、快節(jié)奏、突出性和對(duì)話和思維表現(xiàn);鄧特·楊的譯文翻譯地更詳盡,有些例子較好地保持了原文的不合邏輯、客觀性、不可信性、慢節(jié)奏和排比效果。通過理論指導(dǎo)和具體分析,本論文建議譯者盡可能保留原文結(jié)構(gòu)的特殊元素,如不合邏輯和客觀性,深入地分析原文的內(nèi)容蘊(yùn)含的內(nèi)涵和語言本身具有的深層含義,盡可能在保持原文結(jié)構(gòu)不變的前提下,進(jìn)行意譯,實(shí)現(xiàn)語言本身和主題的美學(xué)意義。
[Abstract]:The Water margin is the first novel in the history of Chinese literature, which has rich historical and cultural significance. The novel describes the rich customs of the Song Dynasty, reflects various social phenomena, and also shows the living conditions and ideals of the people at the bottom of the society at that time. The original depicts the images of 100 soldiers with different backgrounds and different characters in different languages of different styles. The use of vernacular also makes the language of the novel bright, practical and expressive. However, due to the cultural background of the differences between China and the West, it is difficult to maintain the aesthetic sense of the text under the premise of maintaining the equivalence of thematic meaning in translation. The aesthetic effect of the novel is reflected by both content and form. If the meaning of form itself is missing, it will lead to false equivalence. This paper makes a comparative analysis of the translation of Water margin by using the theory of false equivalence, which breaks through the limitations of many theories that pay more attention to the equivalence of thematic meaning, and draws the attention of readers and translators to the language itself. In addition, Dent Young's translation was published from 1999 to 2002. In recent years, previous studies focus on single text analysis, for example, the comparative analysis of this version and the Shapiri version in this paper is rare in previous studies. This paper uses descriptive and comparative analysis to study the double equivalence of theme meaning and language structure in the positive and negative cases of the novel. Based on the theory of false equivalence, this paper first introduces the research background, significance, innovation points and research methods of the thesis. This paper briefly introduces the "Water margin" and the theory of false equivalence; secondly, from the lexical point of view, analyzes the two translations' translation processing in illogical, objective and unreliable ways; from the syntactic point of view, compares the two versions in rhythm. From the perspective of dialogue and thinking performance, this paper contrasts and analyzes the expressive effects of the two translations through the different processing of direct preface. Finally, the author draws a conclusion, summarizes the shortcomings and puts forward some translation suggestions to avoid false equivalence. Through the comparative analysis of examples, it is found that Shapiro's translation is more concise and clear, and some examples better maintain the illogical nature of the original text, the objectivity of emotional color, the fast rhythm, the salience, the dialogue and the thinking performance; Dent Young's translation is more detailed, and some examples better maintain the illogical, objective, unreliable, slow tempo and proportional effects of the original text. Through theoretical guidance and concrete analysis, this thesis suggests that translators should retain as many special elements of the original structure as possible, such as illogical and objective, and deeply analyze the connotation of the content and the deep meaning of the language itself. Under the premise of keeping the structure of the original text unchanged, free translation is carried out to realize the aesthetic meaning of the language itself and the theme.
