To oppose Imperialist hegemony and to protect the development of multiple cultures, the top priority task at the present is to strengthen cultural self-consciousness and make further dialogue and communication on equality among different cultures. Being in the forefront of the dialogue and communication, Chinese Comparative Literature shoulders heavy responsibilities of an age not just some "schools" . The discourse of dialogue should be the accumulation of foreign influence in the past and the explanation of ancient works, and it is impossible to use on Western discourse or to return to the discourse of ancient times. As a discipline, comparative literature is not a ready-made product, but a being-made product. Therefore, it will be in vain to fix it in a frame or with an established method.

    新世紀(jì)伊始,全球化時(shí)代的文化沖突為帝國霸權(quán)所掩蓋,知識分子進(jìn)一步對現(xiàn)代西方文化進(jìn)行反思。要反對文化霸權(quán)主義,保護(hù)多元文化的發(fā)展,當(dāng)務(wù)之急是要強(qiáng)化文化自覺,加強(qiáng)多極均勢之間的對話和溝通。中國比較文學(xué)已經(jīng)站在對話和溝通的前列,賦予它生命的是一個(gè)時(shí)代,而不是什么“派”。對話的話語則是以往域外的影響及對古代詮釋的積累。要想完全套用西方的話語或回歸古代話語,恐怕都做不到。而作為一個(gè)學(xué)科,中國的比較文學(xué)不是既成之物,而是動態(tài)發(fā)展的將成之物,要用一個(gè)框架和固定的方法去限制它,都不是好辦法。

Because of this asymmetry, mutual cooperation became fragile and was doomed to be cast into the shadow of imperialist hegemony.
