萊昂內(nèi)爾·特里林經(jīng)典文學(xué)教育思想與方法研究

萊昂內(nèi)爾·特里林(1905-1975)是二十世紀(jì)美國(guó)杰出的批評(píng)家、教育家和作家,是“紐約知識(shí)分子”群體的靈魂人物之一。特里林對(duì)馬修·阿諾德“文學(xué)是對(duì)生活的批評(píng)”這一理念的繼承與發(fā)展,使他的批評(píng)偏向一種文化批評(píng)。有別于新批評(píng)脫離社會(huì)文化、重點(diǎn)關(guān)注文本本身的形式主義分析,特里林的文學(xué)批評(píng)更加關(guān)注的是文學(xué)的重要作用。在特里林看來(lái),社會(huì)、道德和文化是文學(xué)闡述的核心;文學(xué)應(yīng)該具有某種“分量”,能夠觸動(dòng)人心,描繪出人們壓制于內(nèi)心深處的真正渴望;并且能夠讓我們反思不完美的自己,反思我們想象力的貧乏,從而使自身朝著完美的方向前進(jìn)。身為哥倫比亞大學(xué)的文學(xué)教授,在長(zhǎng)達(dá)四十多年的教學(xué)生涯中,特里林的文化批評(píng)理論與思想深深影響著他的文學(xué)教育思想。特里林認(rèn)為,文學(xué)教師應(yīng)該將文學(xué)與道德、文化、社會(huì)的深層意義結(jié)合起來(lái),在文學(xué)與現(xiàn)實(shí)之間構(gòu)建起一種實(shí)質(zhì)的聯(lián)系,從而培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的人格,而不僅僅將文學(xué)經(jīng)典作品當(dāng)作形式意義上的經(jīng)典來(lái)解讀。此外,作為一名公共知識(shí)分子,特里林認(rèn)為文學(xué)教育不應(yīng)被局限于學(xué)院之中。他通過(guò)為公眾寫作,給社會(huì)大眾理解經(jīng)典文學(xué)以及背后的文化現(xiàn)象提供了便利。特里林的眾多經(jīng)典論著對(duì)如今的年輕批評(píng)家有著重要的啟發(fā)作用...
