"TONG BIAN CARD" (universal item for cataloging) is one of the achievements in China's centralized cataloging field. In order to bring the "TONG BIAN CARD" into full play and make it more directive to enhance the catalog quality of various libraries, the authors, through case study, has made comprehensive analysis on the problems existing in classified inde- xing with the "TONG BIAN CARD", and countermeasures of the users has also been suggested.
