認(rèn)同、共情與象征行動(dòng):諾曼·梅勒《夜幕下的大軍》中的抗議策略研究

美國當(dāng)代作家諾曼·梅勒(1923-2007)以其作品中對(duì)戰(zhàn)后美國社會(huì)及政治問題的關(guān)注和深刻思考而獲得廣泛好評(píng)。論文通過抗議小說的定義將梅勒的代表作《夜幕下的大軍》(1968)界定為典型的抗議小說,借助肯尼斯·伯克的修辭理論及約翰·斯托弗教授在《美國抗議文學(xué)》一書前言中首次提出的抗議文學(xué)思想揭示出作品蘊(yùn)含的“認(rèn)同”、“共情”及“象征行動(dòng)”這三種抗議策略,進(jìn)而說明作家通過這三種策略在文本中的貫徹執(zhí)行而將抗議的對(duì)象直指美國社會(huì)根深蒂固的的極權(quán)主義思想,而作家亦正是通過抗議策略的有效實(shí)施得以將自己的抗議思想潛移默化地傳遞給讀者和受眾,從而實(shí)現(xiàn)抗議的有效性。第一章借鑒肯尼斯·伯克修辭理論中的“認(rèn)同”策略,探討作品如何使讀者認(rèn)同梅勒呈現(xiàn)的的多重形象。其中梅勒在文中突出呈現(xiàn)他自己“本能的嬉皮士”和“寫作風(fēng)格獨(dú)特的存在主義者”這一多重形象的目的一方面在于糾正和挽回自己在大眾媒體中的負(fù)面形象,另一方面在于表達(dá)他對(duì)“非此即彼”和“泯滅個(gè)性”的極權(quán)主義思想的反抗;第二章圍繞約翰·斯托弗提出的“共情”策略,討論梅勒在作品中采用的“敘事共情”中的“第三人稱敘事雙重?cái)⑹鲆暯恰保防杖暯呛汀懊防铡毕薅ㄒ暯牵、?..
