【摘要】：何炳棣(1917-2012)是通識(shí)古今、貫通中西的華裔史學(xué)大家,其史學(xué)成就卓著、視野開(kāi)闊、治史領(lǐng)域廣涉古今中外。他在史學(xué)方面取得了卓越的貢獻(xiàn),為海外華人贏得了贊譽(yù)。何炳棣所治領(lǐng)域主要是明清及先秦上古三代,主要內(nèi)容有明清社會(huì)流動(dòng)、資本積累、和人口發(fā)展模式研究;中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化起源;先秦諸子思想制度等。由于其從留學(xué)起便一直居住在美國(guó),加之當(dāng)時(shí)的社會(huì)壞境及中外信息交流的不暢,所以他屬于那種"墻外開(kāi)花墻外紅"的學(xué)者,雖在國(guó)外自由馳騁、游刃于群雄間,但對(duì)國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)人來(lái)說(shuō),對(duì)他的了解大抵停留在"聽(tīng)其名者多,而知其學(xué)者少"的狀態(tài)。為了避免與前賢往哲的研究相重復(fù),本文力求做到清楚闡明何炳棣其人其學(xué),尤其注重對(duì)其史學(xué)成就的介紹和剖析,詳人所略,略人所詳。本文擬分四章:第一章介紹何炳棣的生平歷程,主要包括其求學(xué)與執(zhí)教兩方面;第二章評(píng)述何炳棣治史領(lǐng)域和史學(xué)成就,主要包括其在明清社會(huì)經(jīng)濟(jì)史與先秦上古三代思想文化、制度兩方面;第三章歸納何炳棣的治史特點(diǎn),主要包括"竭澤而漁"式的史料搜集與長(zhǎng)于史料的詮釋、融匯古今中外且善于運(yùn)用多學(xué)科的理論與方法、注重博與專、微觀個(gè)案與宏觀通識(shí)的結(jié)合與攻堅(jiān)克難、銳意進(jìn)取,知錯(cuò)能改、虛心納諫四方面;第四章探究影響何炳棣治史的因素,主要包括家學(xué)淵源的影響、中西學(xué)術(shù)滋養(yǎng)、師友互動(dòng)與個(gè)人努力四方面。試就何炳棣的學(xué)術(shù)研治和史學(xué)成就進(jìn)行比較全面地探討,希冀人們對(duì)這樣一位"才大如海"的史學(xué)大師有更深入的認(rèn)識(shí)。
[Abstract]:Ping-Ti Ho (1917-2012) is a Chinese historiographer with great achievements and broad horizons. He has made outstanding contributions to historiography and won praise for overseas Chinese. The main fields of Ping-Ti Ho are the Ming and Qing dynasties and the three ancient dynasties of the Pre-Qin Dynasty. The main contents include the study of social mobility, capital accumulation and population development model, the origin of Chinese traditional culture and the ideological system of the pre-Qin schools of thought and so on. Because he had been living in the United States since he studied abroad, and because of the bad social situation and the poor exchange of information between China and foreign countries at that time, he belonged to the kind of scholar who "bloomed outside the wall and was red outside the wall." But for the domestic scholar, the understanding of him mostly stays in the state of "listening to his name more than knowing his scholar". In order to avoid duplication with the research of former sages to philosophers, this paper tries to clarify clearly Ping-Ti Ho's study of human being, especially pays attention to the introduction and analysis of his achievements in historical studies. This paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter introduces the history of Ping-Ti Ho, including its study and teaching, the second chapter reviews the history of Ping-Ti Ho and its achievements. It mainly includes two aspects: the social and economic history of Ming and Qing dynasties and the ideology and culture of the three dynasties of the early Qin Dynasty and the ancient times, the third chapter sums up the characteristics of the history of Ping-Ti Ho, mainly including the collection of historical materials and the interpretation of historical materials that are better than the historical data. Fusion of ancient and modern and good at the use of multi-disciplinary theory and methods, pay attention to Bo and specialized, micro-cases and macro general knowledge of the combination and difficult to overcome, forge ahead, learn mistakes can be changed, modestly remonstrated four aspects; Chapter four explores the factors that affect the history of Ping-Ti Ho, including the influence of family origin, Chinese and Western academic nourishment, teacher-friend interaction and personal efforts. This paper discusses Ping-Ti Ho's achievements in academic research and historiography, and hopes that people will have a deeper understanding of such a master of historiography.
