【摘要】：譚恩美于2013年出版了《驚奇山谷》,小說講述了一個具有極大空間跨度結(jié)構(gòu)的故事。本文以亨利·列斐伏爾的《空間的生產(chǎn)》中所提出的空間敘事理論為依據(jù),從物理空間、社會空間和心理空間方面分析故事主角的悲劇命運。物理空間為故事的發(fā)生提供了一個背景。小說中每一地點的出現(xiàn),都有其象征意義。驚奇山谷作為小說中的夢幻之地,對于露西亞和維奧萊特象征著愛和希望。海市蜃樓象征著露西亞所追逐的愛情是一種幻覺。藏玉閣目睹了露西亞的事業(yè)成功和被欺騙的命運,同時也承載了維奧萊特的幸福歲月。寧靜樓帶給維奧萊特的是苦難和被壓迫的命運,月池村見證了維奧萊特忍耐和被欺騙的命運。此外,社會空間不僅包含了社會和現(xiàn)實創(chuàng)造的真實空間,更包括了各種促使物體和信息交流的關(guān)系。政治環(huán)境影響社會空間。個人主義使得露西亞能不顧他人言語去做決定;集體主義使得盧興將家庭地位置于個人需要之前,從而拋棄露西亞。不同的成長背景也鑄就了維奧萊特和寶葫蘆的不同命運。此外,心理空間是內(nèi)部空間,展現(xiàn)了了人物行為的內(nèi)在動機。露西亞和維奧萊特都經(jīng)歷了身份危機,他們最初鄙夷中國傳統(tǒng)文化,但最終卻認(rèn)同該文化。他們在中國的命運和遭遇隨著他們文化認(rèn)同的態(tài)度的轉(zhuǎn)變而改變。露西亞和維奧萊特的愛情觀和事業(yè)觀決定著他們的行為,而他們的行為造就了他們不同的命運。簡言之,論文可得出以下結(jié)論:小說中四位主要人物的命運皆有悲劇性,但又各有特點。
