【摘要】：英國牛津大學(xué)是近代歐洲東方學(xué)重鎮(zhèn),其梵語研究乃至整個印度學(xué)研究長期處于世界領(lǐng)先地位。佛教研究于19世紀(jì)初興起后,牛津大學(xué)的印度學(xué)研究很快與中國學(xué)研究相結(jié)合,在梵語、漢語佛教文獻(xiàn)學(xué)的學(xué)術(shù)研究、人才培養(yǎng)等方面取得了舉世公認(rèn)的成就。本文以近代國際東方學(xué)的發(fā)展為背景,揭示了佛教研究在19世紀(jì)牛津大學(xué)印度學(xué)學(xué)科體系中的成長脈絡(luò)。本文還探討了牛津大學(xué)印度學(xué)家威爾遜、繆勒等人介紹中國西行求法高僧游記、推動在華尋找梵語原典等活動。
[Abstract]:Oxford University in England is the important city of modern European Orientalism, and its Sanskrit study and even the whole Indian study have long been in the leading position in the world. After the rise of Buddhist studies in the early 19th century, the Indian studies of Oxford University quickly combined with the study of Chinese studies, and made world-recognized achievements in Sanskrit, the academic research of Chinese Buddhist philology, the cultivation of talents, and so on. Against the background of the development of modern international Orientalism, this paper reveals the growth of Buddhist studies in the discipline system of Indian studies at Oxford University in the 19th century. This paper also discusses the activities of Oxford University Indian scholars Wilson and Mueller on their travels to the west to promote the search for Sanskrit scriptures in China.
