【摘要】：李盛鐸出身詩書傳家的仕宦門第,光緒己丑,高中榜眼,長年供職翰苑臺館,以此而致顯達(dá)。他洋務(wù)能力、外事素養(yǎng)較為薄弱,但因善于逢迎、巧于趨避而數(shù)得樞臣舉薦,兩度銜命出使,常駐日、比。盛鐸向來以藏書家、政治家的身份廣為人知,而其作為外交家取得的成就亦頗為值得稱道,雖說并非精明強(qiáng)干、聲譽(yù)隆重的外交良才,尚稱公忠體國、不辱使命的守成之士。其良苦用心、愛國熱忱,值得肯定與顯揚(yáng)。
