容閎與近代中西文化交流

【摘要】:近代以來,中西之間的文化交流比以前更加頻繁。容閎得益于這一潮流,學(xué)習(xí)了西方文化,并參與到中西文化交流中。本文運(yùn)用相關(guān)歷史文獻(xiàn)探討容閎為西學(xué)東漸和東學(xué)西漸所做的努力,以及他在中西文化交流史上的地位。 本文共3章。第一章闡述了19世紀(jì)前60年西學(xué)東漸和東學(xué)西漸的整體概況,即容閎致力于中西文化交流的歷史背景。在這一時期,傳教士充當(dāng)了溝通中西文化的主角。鴉片戰(zhàn)爭后,國人也加入到其中。第二章探討了容閎的西學(xué)基礎(chǔ)和在西學(xué)東漸上的貢獻(xiàn)。其貢獻(xiàn)主要有:促成和主持了幼童留美;在經(jīng)濟(jì)思想和主張上,提出了設(shè)銀行、開輪船公司和修鐵路的構(gòu)想等。此外,他還建議設(shè)立兵工學(xué)校和翻譯館、翻譯西方著作和辦報(bào)紙。第三章論述了容閎中學(xué)的習(xí)得和在東學(xué)西漸上的努力。其努力主要有:督促幼童學(xué)習(xí)中學(xué);贈書;促成耶魯大學(xué)中文講座的設(shè)立和以其自身的形象傳播中國文化。支撐容閎致力于西學(xué)東漸和東學(xué)西漸的動力在于其“愛國”情結(jié)。當(dāng)然容閎的努力存在一個缺點(diǎn),即未能和中國國情相結(jié)合,但并不影響其在中西文化交流史上的地位。容閎是近代中西文化交流史上第一個留學(xué)外國,并畢業(yè)于美國一流大學(xué)的中國人。
[Abstract]:Since modern times, cultural exchanges between China and the West have become more frequent than before. Rong Hong, benefiting from this trend, studied western culture and participated in cultural exchanges between China and the West. This paper discusses Rong Hong's efforts for the eastward and westward spread of western learning and his position in the history of cultural exchange between China and the West. There are three chapters in this paper. The first chapter expounds the general situation of the development of western learning from east to west in the first 60 years of the 19th century, that is, the historical background of Rong Hong's commitment to the cultural exchange between China and the West. During this period, missionaries acted as the protagonists of communication between Chinese and Western cultures. After the Opium War, the Chinese also joined in. Chapter two discusses Rong Hong's foundation of western learning and his contribution to the development of western learning. His contributions include: facilitating and hosting the young children to study in the United States, and putting forward the ideas of setting up banks, shipping companies and repairing railways in the economic thought and proposition. In addition, he proposed the establishment of military schools and translation houses, translation of Western books and newspapers. Chapter three discusses the acquisition of Rong Hong Middle School and its efforts in learning from east to west. Its efforts include urging young children to learn middle schools, giving books, setting up Chinese lectures at Yale University and spreading Chinese culture in their own image. The motive force of supporting Rong Hong's efforts to learn from the west and to learn from the west lies in his patriotic complex. Of course, Rong Hong's efforts have a disadvantage, that is, he failed to combine with China's national conditions, but did not affect his position in the history of cultural exchange between China and the West. Rong Hong was the first Chinese to study abroad in the history of cultural exchange between China and the West, and graduated from the first university in the United States.
