【摘要】：本文原載于《華裔學(xué)志》(Monumenta Serica)第31卷1974——1975年第618—622頁(yè)。原文題目為:Paul A.Cohen:Between Tradition and Modernity:Wang T’ao and Reform in Late-Ch’ing China。作者汪榮祖先生是美國(guó)西雅圖華盛頓大學(xué)歷史學(xué)博士(1971),在美國(guó)弗吉尼亞州立大學(xué)(Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University)執(zhí)教30余年(1971—2003),曾獲得多項(xiàng)國(guó)外研究獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng),包括弗吉尼亞州立大學(xué)榮譽(yù)教授(2002)、弗吉尼亞州立大學(xué)最高研究獎(jiǎng)(1994)、弗吉尼亞州社會(huì)科學(xué)院杰出學(xué)者獎(jiǎng)(1993)、廈門(mén)大學(xué)終身榮譽(yù)講座教授(2010)、美國(guó)科學(xué)院美中交換學(xué)者(1981—1982)�，F(xiàn)任臺(tái)灣"中央大學(xué)"歷史講座教授、"中央研究院"近代史研究所兼任研究員,北京大學(xué)人文社會(huì)科學(xué)研究院特邀訪問(wèn)教授,北京師范大學(xué)章太炎黃侃學(xué)術(shù)研究中心兼職研究員。其著作被全美研究圖書(shū)館聯(lián)合會(huì)評(píng)選為2001年度最佳學(xué)術(shù)著作之一。專長(zhǎng)中國(guó)近代思想文化史與中西史學(xué)史,已出版英文學(xué)術(shù)專著4種:Beyond Confucian China(2010),A Paradise Lost(2001),Search for Modern Nationalism(1989),Rejuvenating a Tradition(1990);中文學(xué)術(shù)專著14種,散文集2本,研究論文100篇,中英文書(shū)評(píng)40余篇。在本書(shū)評(píng)中,汪榮祖先生對(duì)柯文《在傳統(tǒng)與現(xiàn)代性之間:王韜與晚清革命》進(jìn)行了客觀評(píng)述,認(rèn)為柯文書(shū)中對(duì)王韜的分析總體上是公正的,但也指出一些不足,值得我們后輩進(jìn)一步討論和借鑒。譯文經(jīng)汪榮祖先生審閱并潤(rùn)色。
[Abstract]:This paper is published in Monumenta Serica, vol. 31, 1974-1975, pp. 618-622. Original title: Paul A.Cohen:Between Tradition and Modernity:Wang T'ao and Reform in Late-Ch'ing China. The writer, Mr. Wang Rongzu, is a Ph.D. in history at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. He taught at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) for more than 30 years and won many foreign research awards. These include the Honorary Professor of Virginia State University, Yu 2002.The University of Virginia's highest research award (1994 / 1994), the Virginia Academy of Social Sciences (VAS) Outstanding Scholarship Award (1993 / 3), Xiamen University's Professor of Lifetime Honorary Chair (Yu 2010), and the American and Chinese Exchange Scholar of the National Academy of Sciences (AAS) from 1981 to 1982. He is currently a professor of history at the Central University of Taiwan, a research fellow at the Institute of Modern History of the Academia Sinica, and a visiting professor invited by the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Peking University. Beijing normal University Zhang Taiyan Huang Kan academic Research Center part-time researcher. His work was selected by the National Federation of Research Libraries as one of the best academic works of the year 2001. Specializing in the history of modern Chinese ideology and history of Chinese and Western historiography, four English academic monographs: beyond Confucian China 2010 and A Paradise Lost/ 2001 have been published, and 14 Chinese academic monographs, 2 essays, 100 research papers and more than 40 reviews in English and Chinese have been published. In this book review, Mr. Wang Rongzu makes an objective comment on "between tradition and modernity: Wang Tao and the Revolution of the late Qing Dynasty". He thinks that the analysis of Wang Tao in the Ke document is generally fair, but he also points out some shortcomings. It is worthy of further discussion and reference by our successors. The translation was examined and polished by Mr. Wang Rongzu.
