[Abstract]:The great role of propaganda in the two world wars made westerners generally think that propaganda played an important role in the success or failure of war and social stability. During the second World War, wartime propaganda developed in an unprecedented way. British wartime propaganda to the United States was an important event in British-American relations during World War II. The victory of World War II was inseparable from the United States' participation in the war, and the United States' participation in the war was inextricably linked to British propaganda. Britain's wartime propaganda to the United States has won the support of American public opinion, freed American foreign policy from the shackles of "isolationism" and promoted the United States' participation in the war. Propaganda is only an external cause and therefore cannot play a decisive role in American participation in the war, but it is indeed one of the important reasons for American participation in the war. This paper attempts to reveal the influence of British propaganda on American participation in the war by examining and analyzing the British propaganda to the United States during the period when the second World War broke out to the United States. The full text is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the British wartime propaganda agencies, including the British propaganda agencies and media and British propaganda agencies and groups in the United States. Emphasis is placed on the Department of Public Information, the official British propaganda agency. The second to fourth chapters, in the order of time, discuss the process of British propaganda to the United States in the early stage of World War II with the development of the war situation. The second chapter deals with the British propaganda during the "strange war", the third chapter about the British propaganda before and after the "Battle of Britain", and the fourth chapter about the British propaganda leading to Pearl Harbor. The last chapter summarizes the characteristics of British propaganda and its impact on the United States. Wartime propaganda embodies the international relations in modern war. At the beginning of the second World War, Britain did a great deal of propaganda to the United States, to a certain extent, influenced the public opinion and foreign policy of the United States, and objectively played a certain role in promoting the United States' participation in the war.
