【摘要】：美國鐵路華工在美國西部開發(fā)中做出了卓越的貢獻。已有的研究成果大都以美國為中心,主要根據(jù)美國官方或者私人的檔案和新聞媒體、鐵路華工后代的追憶,以及學(xué)者的田野調(diào)查資料來建構(gòu)鐵路華工的歷史,華工群體自己的聲音嚴重缺失。21世紀(jì)以來,在素有"北美華僑之鄉(xiāng)"的江門五邑地區(qū)發(fā)現(xiàn)的晚清、民國時期的各類僑鄉(xiāng)文書,為追尋"沉默的鐵路華工"的歷史,傾聽他們的聲音,建構(gòu)研究中的華工視野、僑鄉(xiāng)視野、中國視野提供了可能。透過僑鄉(xiāng)文書可以發(fā)現(xiàn),鐵路華工主動籌款出洋,通過美國—香港—僑鄉(xiāng)的商業(yè)網(wǎng)絡(luò)給家眷寄送僑匯和家信。鐵路華工通過拼搏奮斗源源不斷地輸入血汗錢和思想觀念,提升了家庭的經(jīng)濟和社會地位,編織起僑鄉(xiāng)民眾賴以謀生的移民網(wǎng)絡(luò),啟動并促進了廣東五邑僑鄉(xiāng)的現(xiàn)代化進程。
[Abstract]:American Railway Chinese workers have made outstanding contributions to the development of the American West. Most of the existing research results are centered on the United States. They are mainly based on the official or private archives and news media of the United States, the recollection of future generations of railway Chinese workers, and the fieldwork materials of scholars to construct the history of railway Chinese workers. Since the 21st century, in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, all kinds of documents found in the Wuyi region of Jiangmen, known as the "hometown of overseas Chinese in North America," were in pursuit of the history of "silent railway Chinese workers." Listening to their voices and constructing the Chinese workers' visual field, the overseas Chinese hometown vision and the Chinese vision provide the possibility. Through overseas Chinese documents, it can be found that Chinese railway workers actively raise funds abroad and send remittances and letters to their families through the U.S.-Hong Kong-overseas Chinese Home Business Network. Railway Chinese workers continuously input hard-earned money and ideas through hard work and struggle to enhance the economic and social status of the family, weave the migrant network on which the people of overseas Chinese rely for a living, and start and promote the modernization process of the hometown of overseas Chinese in Wuyi, Guangdong Province.
