[Abstract]:Because magnesium and magnesium alloy materials will burn violently in the open fire, giving off a startling glare, the federal aviation regulations of the United States have for decades prohibited the manufacture of magnesium and magnesium alloy for the internal parts of civil aircraft. The requirements for material and process of the American Academy of Automotive Engineers Standard (SAE Standard) AS-8049 3.3 clearly indicate that magnesium alloys shall not be used. But now things are going to be looser, some planes.
