中國和“亞洲虎”在和平的內(nèi)外部環(huán)境下取得了快速的經(jīng)濟增長和較低的通貨膨脹。受此啟發(fā),本文把社會政治穩(wěn)定（和平）作為決定經(jīng)濟增長的一個關(guān)鍵因素,試圖為將來形成一個新的增長理論建立一個基礎(chǔ)。本文說明,在發(fā)展中國家,由于社會的、政治的或經(jīng)濟的等原因（如政治制度、領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、種族歧視、地區(qū)歧視、語言沖突和恐怖主義等等）所導(dǎo)致的社會政治不穩(wěn)定對經(jīng)濟增長和通貨膨脹具有不利的影響,這種情況在斯里蘭卡尤為嚴(yán)重。本文使用定性和定量的研究方法對對斯里蘭卡進行了個案研究,在控制了影響對經(jīng)濟增長和通貨膨脹的重要因素,如物質(zhì)和人力資本的積累以及貨幣供給之后,我們發(fā)現(xiàn),社會政治不穩(wěn)定對斯里蘭卡的經(jīng)濟增長具有顯著的負(fù)效應(yīng)、對通貨膨脹具有顯著的正效應(yīng)。本文使用70個發(fā)展中國家的橫截面數(shù)據(jù)和穩(wěn)定的得分指標(biāo)來定量分析社會政治穩(wěn)定對經(jīng)濟增長和通貨膨脹的作用。結(jié)果顯示,在發(fā)展中國家,社會政治不穩(wěn)定對經(jīng)濟增長具有負(fù)面影響。西方學(xué)者認(rèn)為,在發(fā)展中國家,民主是社會政治穩(wěn)定的基礎(chǔ)。而我們的結(jié)論認(rèn)為,在發(fā)展中國家,民主對經(jīng)濟增長具有顯著的負(fù)作用。本文定性地分析和解釋了在斯里蘭卡影響社會政治不穩(wěn)定的各種社會、政治和經(jīng)濟因素。如內(nèi)戰(zhàn)、各種形式的...
