【摘要】：彼得?凱里(1943—)是當代澳大利亞文學巨擘,被譽為“澳大利亞文化的代言人”。《奧斯卡與露辛達》是其代表作(1988年英國文學大獎布克獎獲獎作品),呈現(xiàn)了澳洲大陸的社會歷史、基督文化與土著文化的交流與碰撞以及由此產(chǎn)生的愛情悲劇。本文以亨利?列斐伏爾的空間敘事理論為依據(jù),試圖探討物理空間、社會空間和心理空間與男女主人公的愛情悲劇敘事的關系。物理空間分為地域空間(19世紀的澳大利亞)和景觀空間。19世紀的澳大利亞是英屬殖民地,以其獨特的政治、經(jīng)濟特點對殖民地移民的價值觀產(chǎn)生影響。景觀空間(鱷魚號、露辛達的農(nóng)舍和玻璃教堂)則見證了愛情悲劇從開始到結束的發(fā)展過程。在社會空間里,社會倫理道德對男女主人公愛情的壓迫,以及基督文化與土著文化的沖突是愛情悲劇的動因。心理空間屬主觀空間,它涉及兩個方面:一是奧斯卡對宗教異化的屈服,二是露辛達對男權社會的抗爭。在物理空間、社會空間和心理空間的共同作用下,男女主人公的愛情注定以悲劇收場。
