論《基姆》的文體特征

諾貝爾文學(xué)獎得主魯?shù)聛喌隆ぜ妨质怯膶W(xué)史上最備受爭議的作家之一。由于其與印英兩國的親密關(guān)系,評論家和研究者都傾向于探討吉卜林作品中的身份困惑、政治傾向等主題思想,鮮有學(xué)者關(guān)注其寫作手法與文體特征。因此,本文試圖以《小說文體論》為理論來源,通過文學(xué)文體學(xué)這一視角探索其經(jīng)典之作《基姆》的文體特征。文學(xué)文體學(xué)研究強(qiáng)調(diào)有選擇地呈現(xiàn)語言特征和敘事策略并分析其對表達(dá)主題意義、加強(qiáng)審美作用產(chǎn)生的文體效果;谖谋炯(xì)讀,本文從《基姆》的詞匯、語法和語境三個層面選取具體語言敘事特征加以分析。論文第一章分析了詞匯特征。該小說運(yùn)用了兩種第二人稱代詞。以英語為交流語言的對話中,小說人物均以表敬意的“You”稱呼對方,這體現(xiàn)出吉卜林血統(tǒng)中的英國優(yōu)越感。而用以稱呼地位低劣或關(guān)系親密之人的“Thou”總出現(xiàn)在印度方言對話中。這說明雖然吉卜林認(rèn)為印度落后于英國,他仍保持著與印度的親密關(guān)系;此外,英語的詞匯和拼寫偏離也時常出現(xiàn)。為更本真地呈現(xiàn)印度語言多樣化的社會現(xiàn)狀,吉卜林在以英語書寫的《基姆》中保留了大量印度方言詞匯。為形象地呈現(xiàn)印度本國方言口音對英語的影響,英語詞匯的錯誤拼寫也時?梢。第二章探討了語法特征。吉...
