失落與重獲的家園:從后殖民理論視角解讀《世界與小鎮(zhèn)》

任璧蓮是當代華裔美國女作家,其小說《世界與小鎮(zhèn)》刻畫了來自不同族裔的人們匯聚在一個偏遠小鎮(zhèn)里,其中包括華裔美國人、柬埔寨裔美國人、匈牙利裔美國人和白人主流群體。一方面,他們因為家園失落而倍感傷痛;另一方面,他們掙扎著去適應不同文化相互對抗協(xié)商的新環(huán)境。以霍米·巴巴的后殖民理論為理論基礎(chǔ),本論文探討全球化語境下移民失落與重獲的家園。來自不同族裔、宗教以及文化背景的人們經(jīng)歷失落家園的痛苦,遭遇不同文化的對抗,他們試圖通過越界,自我邊緣化以及尋求接納等方式來面對生活中的不確定性與多元性。因此,本論文試圖探究文中的小鎮(zhèn)能否成為文化雜糅的“第三空間”,幫助人們克服由失去家園導致的失落感。任璧蓮不僅關(guān)注不同文化之間互相沖突的外部世界,同時也探究人們努力找尋自我的內(nèi)心世界。本論文指出任璧蓮試圖通過不同族裔的混居來闡明她對族裔性的理解,并促使讀者思考刻板印象帶來的危害,進一步闡釋任璧蓮關(guān)于建構(gòu)一個獨立與互倚的世界的設(shè)想符合當今全球化趨勢,為華裔美國文學和世界文學的發(fā)展做出了貢獻。
