空間視域下《大街》中卡羅爾形象的解讀

辛克萊·劉易斯是美國(guó)文學(xué)史中第一位榮獲諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)的現(xiàn)實(shí)主義作家,代表作有《大街》、《巴比特》和《阿羅史密斯》等作品。其中,《大街》在他創(chuàng)作生涯中占據(jù)著舉足輕重的地位,正是這部作品讓他真正聲名鵲起。在《大街》中劉易斯不僅塑造了一個(gè)沉悶守舊的戈鎮(zhèn),與此同時(shí)還刻畫了一個(gè)新女性—卡羅爾,她同劉易斯一樣,具有強(qiáng)烈的反叛精神,是其社會(huì)理想的化身。他對(duì)人物精細(xì)而巧妙的刻畫,對(duì)諷刺藝術(shù)的嫻熟運(yùn)用,使他不僅在讀者中大受歡迎,同時(shí)也得到了學(xué)界廣泛的認(rèn)可。《大街》是一部充斥著空間因素的小說(shuō),然而國(guó)內(nèi)外學(xué)者極少有人從空間批評(píng)角度對(duì)其展開(kāi)研究。自20世紀(jì)后期空間轉(zhuǎn)向進(jìn)入人文學(xué)科以來(lái),理論家亨利·列斐伏爾和米歇爾·福柯為文學(xué)研究提供了新穎的研究思路。因此,本論文主要借鑒列斐伏爾和福柯的空間批評(píng)思想,試圖從社會(huì)空間、家庭空間和心理空間三個(gè)層面對(duì)《大街》中女主人公卡羅爾的人物形象進(jìn)行解讀。通過(guò)重點(diǎn)考察社會(huì)空間中卡羅爾與戈鎮(zhèn)的關(guān)系,家庭空間中卡羅爾與其丈夫的關(guān)系以及個(gè)體心理空間中卡羅爾與自身的關(guān)系,論文指出空間在塑造卡羅爾人物形象上具有重要作用。論文共分為五個(gè)部分。第一章引言部分介紹了劉易斯及其代表作《大街》、國(guó)內(nèi)外...
