《金翅雀》中西奧多的創(chuàng)傷與修復
[Abstract]:American novelist Donna Tate (1967-), winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 2014, successfully tells us, through the novel Canary, the hero Theodore's moving path to mental healing. In view of the fact that few domestic scholars try to combine the novel with the theory of trauma, this paper is divided into five parts, combining with the theory of trauma and repair, through the analysis of the source of the protagonist's trauma. The symptoms and the process of repairing the novel are studied. This paper analyzes the origin of the protagonist's trauma from two aspects: the terrorist attack on the museum and the long-term indifference and neglect of his father. The death of her mother in the museum is attributed to his own fault, which makes the protagonist feel extremely guilty and immerse herself in the memory of the terrorist attack. At the same time, childhood by the father's indifference, neglect and later abandonment caused the protagonist's inferiority complex, left a great shadow to the hero's childhood, caused a long-term lack of family, and caused a huge mental trauma. The traumatic symptoms of the protagonist are reflected in the reappearance of the images related to the terrorist attack in the museum in the form of hallucinations and flashbacks, and the constant invasion of the protagonist's life. Accompanied by these symptoms is the loss of sense of security, the protagonist. In order to escape these symptoms, he once chose to escape. Based on the analysis of Theodore's path to wound repair in Canary, it is concluded that three kinds of comprehensive factors are indispensable in repairing Theodore's trauma. The first is to rebuild relationships with others. According to the paper, Hobby made up for Theodore's long-standing lack of paternal love, Boris earned him a true friendship, and Pippa helped him regain the lost "Anima." With their help, Theodore got sense of security. Under the influence of friendship and love, we can remember and mourn the traumatic events by telling traumatic stories, and then we can face up to the traumatic memories and reconstruct the traumatic narration. Finally, this paper argues that the novel illustrates the effect of art on the repair of personal trauma, which is different from other trauma novels. The protagonist's path of wound repair embodies Donna Tate's concern for the environment of youth and the thinking of art to save life.
