[Abstract]:The spatial symbols and spatial relations in American Indian writer Sanjay Niegan's second novel, Transplant, show many spatial connotations through the Indian enclave, Little India: on the one hand, the mainstream society is dominated by race and class concepts, white supremacy. Under the guidance of racism and class ideology, such as elite culture, the small India is excluded, and the small India is constructed into a "other" space in the political sense. On the other hand, small Indian residents also strive to exclude mainstream culture, build small India into a cultural sense of home space, in order to continue and ensure their Indian cultural identity, two-way exclusion and resultant formation of ethnic enclaves; In addition, economic factors and the avoidance of racial discrimination by Indians also contributed to the formation of Little India. At the same time, no matter how hard little India and its inhabitants try to defend their Indian character, they are inevitably influenced by the mainstream American culture and embody a third spatial characteristic, such as mobility, ambiguity and hybridity. The contradiction and conflict between the "discrete" ethnic group and the geographical meaning of the motherland and the concern for the psychological meaning.
