【摘要】：1919年麥爾維爾的《白鯨》開啟了其經(jīng)典化的歷程,在之后將近一百年的時間里,小說不僅被批評界廣泛接受,而且小說中的人物形象包括白鯨的形象早已滲透進美國大眾文化、商業(yè)領(lǐng)域和社會生活之中,該小說已成為美國民族文化記憶和美國身份認(rèn)同的來源之一。作為經(jīng)典名作,國內(nèi)外對《白鯨》的解讀與闡釋已經(jīng)十分豐富,從宗教的、象征的、生態(tài)批評的視角的解讀到人物形象和主題的分析,各種評論見仁見智,甚至結(jié)論完全相反。本文試圖立足19世紀(jì)小說產(chǎn)生的歷史和文化語境,分析麥爾維爾在貌似傳奇與宗教寓言的海洋敘事中對新興的美國民族形象和民族性格的刻畫,揭示隱匿在民族形象書寫背后的帝國意識形態(tài)及其與美國民族性格的同構(gòu)。
[Abstract]:Melville's Moby Whale of 1919 began its process of canonization. In the next hundred years, the novel was not only widely accepted by critics, but also the characters of the novel, including the image of the beluga whale, had already penetrated into American popular culture. In the field of business and social life, the novel has become one of the sources of American national cultural memory and American identity. As a classic masterpiece, the interpretation and interpretation of Moby Dick at home and abroad has been very rich. From the angle of religious, symbolic and ecological criticism to the analysis of characters' images and themes, various comments have different opinions, even the conclusion is completely opposite. Based on the historical and cultural context of the 19th century novels, this paper attempts to analyze Melville's portrayal of the emerging American national image and national character in the ocean narrative of seemingly legendary and religious fables. It reveals the empire ideology hidden behind the writing of national image and its isomorphism with American national character.
