【摘要】：在《褐姑娘、褐磚房》中,非裔美國女作家葆拉·馬歇爾力圖通過人和場所的并置重新探討場所精神。一方面,她承認(rèn)場所精神的重要性,因?yàn)檫@是人們對于存在意義的追求,她尤其通過敏感多思的黑人少女賽琳娜的經(jīng)歷凸顯了具有離散背景的巴巴多斯裔美國人對于場所精神的探索;另一方面,她又質(zhì)疑單一、封閉以及靜止的場所精神,借女主人賽琳娜在不同場所中的體驗(yàn)(包括在褐磚房、工廠、公寓等的經(jīng)歷)揭示出場所精神的復(fù)雜多變,并通過賽琳娜對于街道這一場所的認(rèn)同表明她渴望開放的空間,更希望能夠參與到場所精神的制造中。在創(chuàng)造新的場所精神的過程中,巴巴多斯裔美國人也在書寫新的身份,一種同樣處在變化和建構(gòu)中的身份。
[Abstract]:In Brown Girl, Brown Brick House, African American writer Paula Marshall tries to re-explore the spirit of place through the juxtaposition of people and places. On the one hand, she acknowledged the importance of the spirit of place, because it was the pursuit of meaning in existence. In particular, through the experience of Selena, a sensitive black girl, she highlights the exploration of the spirit of place by Barbadian Americans with a discrete background; on the other hand, she questions the single, closed, and static spirit of the place. The experience of the hostess Selena in different places (including in brown brick houses, factories, apartments, etc.) reveals the complexity of the spirit of the place, and through Selena's approval of the place on the street shows her desire for open space. More hope to be able to participate in the manufacture of the spirit of the place. In the process of creating a new spirit of place, Barbadian Americans are also writing a new identity, which is also in the process of change and construction.
