【摘要】：約翰·福爾斯的小說(shuō)《法國(guó)中尉的女人》自出版以來(lái)一直被視為存在主義哲學(xué)的文學(xué)詮釋和形象圖解。從存在主義哲學(xué)視角對(duì)小說(shuō)展開(kāi)的論述數(shù)量眾多,但對(duì)小說(shuō)中的進(jìn)化敘事和達(dá)爾文主義主題的討論卻為數(shù)不多。本文嘗試從"新維多利亞小說(shuō)"的角度入手,闡述福爾斯如何將存在主義自由主題的表達(dá)與對(duì)19世紀(jì)進(jìn)化主題的思考相互結(jié)合,從而實(shí)現(xiàn)對(duì)歷史的反思性再現(xiàn)。本文認(rèn)為,福爾斯將關(guān)于進(jìn)化的歷史文本嵌于存在主義語(yǔ)境之中,賦予人物以能動(dòng)地適應(yīng)環(huán)境的能力,這種能動(dòng)適應(yīng)性正是進(jìn)化過(guò)程中創(chuàng)造性的由來(lái),它表明人類(lèi)的情感和意志會(huì)在某些時(shí)刻超越進(jìn)化過(guò)程中那些決定性力量的影響,成為自己生活的創(chuàng)造者,而這正是個(gè)體自由的由來(lái)。
[Abstract]:John Fowles' novel, "the woman of the French Lieutenant", has been regarded as a literary interpretation and graphic illustration of existentialist philosophy since its publication. However, there are few discussions on evolutionary narration and Darwinian themes in the novel. This paper expounds how Fowles combines the expression of existentialism freedom theme with his thinking on the theme of evolution in the 19th century, so as to realize the reflective reappearance of history. Fowles embedded the historical text of evolution in the existentialist context and endowed the characters with the ability to adapt to the environment in a dynamic manner. This dynamic adaptability is the origin of creativity in the process of evolution. It shows that human emotions and will can at some point transcend the influence of those decisive forces in the course of evolution and become the creators of their own lives, which is the origin of individual freedom.
