從文學(xué)翻譯歷史使命的角度看翻譯策略的選擇

【摘要】:在我國(guó)翻譯界自近代以來一直存在著異化與歸化兩種翻譯策略的爭(zhēng)論,這些爭(zhēng)論在翻譯理論和實(shí)踐中影響深遠(yuǎn)。在翻譯界文化轉(zhuǎn)向研究的新趨勢(shì)下,本文嘗試對(duì)相關(guān)的問題提出自己的理解:首先,歸化異化之爭(zhēng)不是直譯意譯之爭(zhēng)從語言層次向文化層次的延伸,盡管前者包括語言文化兩個(gè)層次而后者僅從語言層上來進(jìn)行討論;其次,語言層面上的歸化與異化也不等同于傳統(tǒng)的直譯與意譯,因?yàn)榍罢呤前逊g文本所呈現(xiàn)的語言文化特征與目的語的語言規(guī)范及文化來進(jìn)行對(duì)比,而后者是把翻譯文本與原文來進(jìn)行對(duì)比的;同時(shí),中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)的歸化異化與后殖民翻譯學(xué)說中韋努蒂的“異化論”及“歸化論”在理論的適用性及目的方面也有不同:前者所涉及的文化領(lǐng)域廣泛,是促進(jìn)文化交流的一種積極手段,而后者韋努蒂的“異化論”僅僅限于政治領(lǐng)域,是在后殖民主義理論視域下提出來的,是把它作為一種國(guó)際政治策略,甚至作為一種反對(duì)文化霸權(quán)的武器。 在對(duì)待異化與歸化這個(gè)問題上,一方面,要把語言和文化的翻譯區(qū)別對(duì)待。英漢兩種語言在詞匯和句法上有很大區(qū)別,因此在對(duì)待文化因素時(shí),應(yīng)盡量把西方文化介紹給中文讀者,而把英文譯成中文時(shí),應(yīng)該盡量避免用詞、句式的歐化與生硬;這并不是說語言和文化是可以割裂開來的。本文在論述對(duì)待翻譯中的不同方面采取不同傾向的翻譯手段時(shí),是以充分肯定語言與文化這兩個(gè)方面的緊密聯(lián)系為前提的。 另一方面,文學(xué)翻譯是一種復(fù)雜的文化溝通過程,這其中包含各
[Abstract]:Since modern times, there have been debates on the translation strategies of alienation and domestication in Chinese translation circles, which have a profound impact on translation theory and practice. Under the new trend of cultural transformation in translation circles, this paper attempts to put forward its own understanding of the relevant issues: firstly, the controversy over domestication is not an extension of the debate between literal translation and free translation from the linguistic level to the cultural level. Although the former includes two levels of language and culture, the latter is discussed only from the linguistic level; Secondly, domestication and alienation on the linguistic level are not equivalent to traditional literal translation and free translation, because the former compares the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the translated text with the target language norms and cultures. The latter contrasts the translated text with the original text; At the same time, the Chinese traditional domestication theory and the post-colonial translation theory of "alienation" and "naturalization theory" are different in the applicability and purpose of the theory. The former involves a wide range of cultural fields. It is a positive means to promote cultural exchange, and the latter Weinuti's "alienation theory" is only limited to the political field and is put forward from the perspective of post-colonialism theory, and it is regarded as an international political strategy.
