林紓、龐德翻譯對比透視

【摘要】:本文的研究對象是林紓和龐德的翻譯對比。作為譯者,林、龐不懂外語,譯介時卻憑藉各自高妙的文學(xué)造詣,尋求與原作者的神合,追求思想感情、意象、氛圍而非語言形式上的對等,溶入較多的創(chuàng)作性成分。其譯筆文字優(yōu)美,匠心獨(dú)運(yùn),神韻豐厚,影響深遠(yuǎn),成為中外翻譯史上十分獨(dú)特的現(xiàn)象。 中西方傳統(tǒng)翻譯研究以排除誤譯的規(guī)定性方法為主流,起于語言學(xué)又止于語言學(xué)。長期以來,在“源語中心論”和極端科學(xué)主義的影響下,“忠實(shí)”、“對等”這些標(biāo)準(zhǔn)一直占據(jù)著翻譯文本的中心位置,成為傳統(tǒng)譯學(xué)研究的金科玉律。以傳統(tǒng)翻譯觀標(biāo)準(zhǔn)審視林、龐譯作,會發(fā)現(xiàn)增、刪、誤、漏比比皆是,那些創(chuàng)造性的組合與并置,以及對意象和氛圍的忠實(shí)(而非忠實(shí)于原文文字)而導(dǎo)致誤譯連連。對林、龐翻譯的主流評論自相矛盾。一方面,對林、龐譯作優(yōu)美的譯筆及深遠(yuǎn)的影響高度評價;另一方面,對二人由于不懂外語而造成的對原文的不忠實(shí)橫加指責(zé)。毋庸諱言,這些評論有其合理之處,其中不乏真知灼見。然而翻譯并非簡單的文字轉(zhuǎn)換過程,前人的研究僅從語言學(xué)層面展開,概莫出于指令性模式巢窠,結(jié)論難免失之偏頗。 二十世紀(jì)七十年代,西方翻譯研究出現(xiàn)了“文化轉(zhuǎn)向”,形成了以譯入語文化為研究重點(diǎn)的流派。如多元系統(tǒng)理論、操縱理論、哲學(xué)闡
[Abstract]:The object of this thesis is the contrast between Lin Shu and pound. As translators, Lin and Pang do not understand foreign languages, but by virtue of their excellent literary attainments, Lin and Pang seek to cooperate with the original author, pursue the equivalence of thoughts and feelings, images, atmosphere rather than linguistic forms, and incorporate more creative elements. It is a unique phenomenon in the history of Chinese and foreign translation because of its beautiful characters, ingenuity, rich charm and profound influence. The traditional translation studies in China and the West mainly focus on the prescriptive method of eliminating false translation, which starts from linguistics and ends in linguistics. For a long time, under the influence of source-centered theory and extreme scientism, the standards of "faithfulness" and "equivalence" have always occupied the central position of translation texts and become the golden rule of traditional translatology. Looking at the translation of Lin and Pang according to the traditional translation view, we can find that the increase, deletion, mistake and omission are everywhere, and the creative combination and juxtaposition, as well as the faithfulness to the image and atmosphere (rather than to the original text), leads to a series of mistranslations. The mainstream comments on Lin Pang's translation are contradictory. On the one hand, Lin and Pang are highly praised for their graceful translation and profound influence; on the other hand, they are criticized for their unfaithfulness to the original text because they do not understand foreign languages. Needless to say, these comments have their reasonableness, and there is no shortage of insights. However, translation is not a simple process of text conversion. Previous studies are carried out only from the linguistic level, and the conclusions are inevitably biased. In the 1970s, the Western translation studies appeared "cultural turn", forming the school of translation language as the focus of the study.
